Melissa McCarthy has finally broken her silence after a massive debate was sparked by Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand found herself in the midst of social media scrutiny after making what she believed to be an innocuous comment directed at McCarthy.

McCarthy shared a photo of herself in a stylish green ensemble, accompanied by director Adam Shankman, on her Instagram page. The caption expressed her excitement for an event she attended, garnering praise from fans for her outfit and cheerful demeanor.

However, Streisand’s now-deleted comment on April 30 raised eyebrows. She asked, “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” This medication is typically used to manage blood glucose levels in individuals with type two diabetes, but it’s also been used controversially for weight loss, a topic discussed by Rebel Wilson and Sharon Osbourne.

The singer faced backlash for her comment, prompting her to clarify on her X page that it was meant as a compliment, not an insult.

Reflecting on the incident, Streisand admitted, “OMG. I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday. Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic. I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading.”

McCarthy, in response, reassured that there was no issue, posting a video on her Instagram page praising Streisand and emphasizing the positive interaction.

In a video for Barbra Magazine, McCarthy expressed gratitude for Streisand’s acknowledgment, stating, “The takeaway, Barbra Streisand knows I exist and reached out to me, she thought I looked good, I win the day.” She even playfully captioned the clip “Barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!” and tagged the star.

During an interview with TMZ, McCarthy further dismissed any controversy, affirming, “I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her,” and shrugging off suggestions that Streisand’s comment was inappropriate.

Ultimately, it seems there’s no animosity between the two stars, allowing fans to breathe a sigh of relief.
