In 2010, Anderson spoke with Pop Entertainment about her experience filming the drama that sent her to prominence, stating, “I’m lucky there was even a character to play, because there isn’t much of one in the book.” Laura [Ingalls] was a much older woman when she wrote the Little House novels, which provided the foundation for the television series and the main focus of the story. She was remembering her best memories. Ma and Mary’s personalities had little influence on what happened. While Mary wasn’t as present, the presence of Laura, Pa, Jack the dog, and Mr. Edwards was enough. It’s a blessing that they recognized my ability to act.
After leaving Mary Ingalls, she worked at various odd jobs until she married television producer Michael Sloan in 1990. The couple relocated to Montreal in 2002 with their two children, Griffin and Piper, and daughter Piper.
