According to a new interview with The Telegraph, Michael Caine, 90, claims he is “sort of” retiring now.
The iconic actor pondered his life and his decades-long career in the interview and even intimated that his future picture could be his last.
Even though Caine has previously considered retiring throughout the years, things appear to be different this time.
“But I wasn’t 90 at the time.” “I’m 90 years old now, and I can’t walk properly or anything,” Caine told The Telegraph. “I’m kind of retired now.”

The actor also stated that his most recent performance in the forthcoming World War II veteran drama “The Great Escaper” was difficult on his body because he cannot walk without assistance.
“They provided me with a very good walking stick, and I was able to do scenes that required it.” “I’d do them once and then collapse,” he explained.
Despite the physical hurdles, Caine told The Telegraph that he was grateful to have been able to take the picture.
“With COVID and everything, I hadn’t done a picture in three years and thought I was done.” “And I just did it—and had a great time,” Caine remarked.
The nonagenarian has discussed retiring several times, dating back to 1968.

According to The Guardian’s August 2018 report, Caine stated in an October 1968 newspaper interview with the Daily Express that he intended to retire at age 45.
“I will live this life until I am 45, then I will retire to a farmhouse, fill it with children, and grow old gracefully.” “45 is a good age to retire from hunting,” Caine told the Daily Express, according to The Guardian.
Caine said on the BBC radio show “Kermode and Mayo’s Film Review” in October 2021 that his film “Best Sellers” would be his final acting job.
“Funnily enough, it has turned out to be my last part, really,” the actor revealed on the radio show. “I can’t walk very well because I haven’t worked in two years and I have a spine problem that affects my legs.”
Caine backtracked on his radio program statements a few days later in a post on X, then known as Twitter, saying, “I haven’t retired, and not a lot of people know that.”

Despite the fact that “The Great Escapers” may be his final picture, Caine tells The Telegraph that he’s happy with the life he’s had.
“Everyone is going to die.” At least I made it to the age of 90; I didn’t die when I was nine, 19, or 29. “I’m 90 years old, and I’ve had the best life I could have imagined,” Caine stated. “The best possible wife, and the best possible family.”
