Miley Cyrus was left in tears while she spoke about her relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer rose to popularity alongside her father in the Disney comedy Hannah Montana.

Billy Ray and Miley, who also plays her father in the show, have a strong relationship that hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows.

Despite her recent musical success, Miley has experienced tragedy, including the divorce of her parents, Tish and Billy Ray.

Billy Ray announced his engagement to artist Firerose, 34, who is only a few years older than his daughter, barely months after his divorce was finalized.

The couple, who now work together on music projects, met on the set of Hannah Montana back in the day.

However, Billy Ray’s new romance appears to be straining the father-daughter bond, with a family insider telling The Sun that “there has been some tension with Miley, which is sad to see.”

Miley has now opened up about her connection with her father in the new ABC show Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions).

The interview was originally designed to promote Miley’s new single, “Used To Be Young. However, with the uncertainties surrounding her relationship with Billy Ray, it was something that needed to be addressed.

“My dad grew up the opposite of me,” Miley remarked of her father.

“I grew up on a sound stage, like, in a house with a super close family who all lived under the same roof.”

“And I grew up financially stable and, I believe, emotionally stable in my relationships.”

“That’s something my father lacked. I’ve seen how it impacts many individuals who move from having nothing to having everything. It’s a really unsafe area.”

“So I think that’s where my relationship to fame and success is wildly different,” she continued.

“More emotionally than I could, he felt the love of a large audience.”

“It’s like healing a childhood wound when he feels special or important, and I’ve always been made to feel like a star.”

“It makes me emotional,” the singer said before breaking down and crying.

Miley and Billy Ray were rumored to be ‘no longer on speaking terms’ last year, with Miley even unfollowing her father on Instagram.
