Morgan Freeman only wore a single glove for his Oscar speech, and the reason is already known…

Morgan Freeman appeared at the 2025 Oscars, paying an impassioned homage to the late actor Gene Hackman.

He then introduced an extremely intense ‘in memoriam’ portion in which David Lynch, Jeff Baena, and Maggie Smith were all honored.

Shelley Duvall was also honored, as were James Earl Jones and other Hollywood stalwarts.

During the emotional times, viewers will question why Freeman is wearing a single black glove.

The celebrity great has already explained why he must wear the glove.

It prompted viewers to ponder why he was wearing it.

One fan tweeted, “What happened to Morgan Freeman’s left hand?”

Another person said, “What’s with Morgan Freeman’s glove?”

A third person said online, “Why does he have one glove on?”

Though it may have a stunning appearance, there is a terrible narrative behind it.

In 2008, Freeman veered off a Mississippi road and rolled over, resulting in an automobile accident.

Rescue personnel had to cut the actor free, severely injuring his left arm.

At the time, a local newspaper editor stated that they had to use the jaws of life [hydraulic cutters] to extricate him from the truck.

“He was clear and conscious. He was chatting and laughing with several of the rescue workers at one point.

Despite being informed that the discomfort will go away and he would experience some progress by 2011, Freeman is still unable to use his hand normally.

He now needs to wear a compression glove to keep the blood flowing.

Freeman earlier stated regarding the injury, “I had nerve damage, and it has not improved. I can’t move it.

“If you don’t move, your hand will swell. Do you realize you move your hand nearly a million times every day?

During an interview with Esquire a few years back, Freeman complained of soreness in his left arm.

When asked about it, he answered the reporter, “It’s fibromyalgia.” The pain radiates up and down the arm. That’s where things go very badly. Excruciating.”

Freeman paid respect to Gene Hackman, who was discovered dead with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog.

The two co-starred in Unforgiven, Hackman’s second Academy Award-winning picture.

He stated in his statement, “This week, our community lost a giant, and I lost a dear friend, Gene Hackman.

“He received two Oscars, ; more importantly, he won the hearts of film lovers all over the world.”
