Officer conducts routine car stop on highway and saves 15-year-old victim of human tra*ficking

One just never knows what heinous deeds people are capable of or when a monster is hidden in plain sight. Mitch Ross, an Ohio State Patrolman, is more aware than most that not everyone you encounter is a good, law-abiding individual.

Nevertheless, although it may be completely within his purview to deter excessive speeding and try to keep the roadways safe, rescuing trafficking victims is surely not something he ever intended to undertake.

When Mitch Ross pulled over a vehicle on I-80 West in Lucas County, Ohio, he felt everything was going according to plan. He was about to cite the male motorist for “failure to move” when he saw that the man wasn’t driving alone.

He was riding in a car with a young girl, but neither of them had identification or knew how to speak English.

Ross started to get a sneaking sensation that something was wrong. It turned out that Mitch had been quite wise to heed his instincts when he asked an OSHP translator to assist him.

The teenager, who was 15 years old, had gone missing in New Jersey. The 35-year-old male driver was transporting her to Chicago.

The girl confessed to the cops that the male had “forced her to perform acts” on him when they were alone. While her kidnapper is being held on kidnapping charges at the Lucas County prison, she is currently receiving medical attention.

This little girl’s destiny would have been much worse if Mitch Ross’ fast thinking and astuteness had not intervened.
