Various factors behind Prince Harry’s decision to stay at a hotel during his visit to his ailing father have been discussed. The Duke of Sussex flew to London and returned to the U.S. within 24 hours.

When Prince Harry recently traveled to London to visit King Charles III after the revelation of his cancer diagnosis, he opted to stay in an opulent hotel. Grant Harrold, the former butler of the King of England, revealed that Prince Harry did this to demonstrate to his family that he could financially support himself without their assistance.

Media reports disclosed a seven-year working relationship between Grant and King Charles III, back when the latter was the Prince of Wales. According to Grant, Prince Harry chose the hotel to prove he is “mature enough to fund himself.” The former butler expressed surprise, noting, “It’s strange he’s not staying at any royal residences because obviously when they were growing up, they had rooms at Clarence House and at Highgrove.”

Grant further questioned the security aspect of Prince Harry’s choice, given that, since stepping down from his royal role, the Duke of Sussex has reportedly been traveling with his own security team.

Discussing Prince Harry’s familial relationships and the choice of staying in a hotel, Grant suggested, “Obviously, it’s not the best sign if he’s staying at a hotel, because you’d have thought he’d possibly stay with his brother [Prince William] and sister-in-law [Kate Middleton] potentially, or at one of his father’s homes.” He added, “If there is an ongoing fallout between him and his brother, it’s possible that he may not have been given the offer to stay.”

Regarding Prince Harry’s brief visit, British expert Richard Fitzwilliams clarified that due to King Charles III starting treatment, he might have been tired, prompting a quick meeting.
