After seeing an odd placard, some claim that Will Smith’s most recent show had an AI-generated audience.
There’s something off about the footage…
Will Smith’s latest performance clip has perplexed fans since the people in the audience do not appear to be genuine.
The 56-year-old is returning to his career, two years after his memorable Oscar slap, by embarking on his first tour in decades to promote his latest record.
Based on a True Story, released in March of this year, is Smith’s fifth studio album, but it signals the end of the rapper’s 20-year absence.
His last album, Lost and Found, was released in 2005.

Smith’s latest album has collaborations with some well-known artists, including his own son, Jaden, Big Sean, Russ, and Joyner Lucas.
In 2024, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor hinted that the record is ‘the most intimate and powerful music effort [he’s] ever done.’
While you would not think the Hollywood legend, regarded as one of the most ‘bankable actors’ would require much publicity for his tour, Smith’s followers have pointed out a clear and ’embarrassing’ error in his film.

On Instagram, the ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’ singer posted the video with the caption: “My favorite part of the tour is seeing you all up close. Thank you for seeing me, too.”
However, scores of individuals have commented that the persons in the video do not appear to be genuine, with robotic motions and deformed, inhuman-like characteristics such as ‘crushed hands’ and ‘no eyes,’ while some were holding ‘bizarre’ placards.
“Why does half of the audience appear possessed?” “Some of them had no eyes, hahahah,” said one commenter.
“If you freeze it at 0:54 seconds, not a single person behind the sign has eyes,” said another.
Since deconstructing the clip on social media, several people have stated that they believe it features an AI-generated crowd, and it is easy to see why.
A critic shared multiple pictures from the clip, pointing out that one sign said ‘FR6SH CRINCE.’
Another, carried by a so-called admirer, read: “‘You can make it’ helped me survive cancer.” “Thank you, Will,” he said with a pained grimace and an abundance of fingers.

Others focused on background footage of the audience, which revealed that many had ‘melted’ or pixelated faces or were in unusual postures, such as a man appearing to put his head in the crotch of another concertgoer or another man scratching his eye through the frame of his spectacles.
A third person shared a screenshot of a hand that looked to have ‘crushed’ fingers in the air.
“This use of AI is insane and downright sad,” one commenter said on the site.
“Half of the footage is AI,” commented another, adding a laughing face emoji.
A third laughed, saying, “What the hell, you actually had a concert.” “Why use AI????”
A fourth begged Smith to ‘remove the video,’ calling the use of artificial intelligence ‘wrong.’
The response comes after Smith successfully launched the UK leg of his tour on August 24 with an audience of about 8,000 in Cardiff.
He will play in Manchester, Wolverhampton, and London before traveling to Europe for his Paris show.
