People feel second-hand shame after seeing Tom Cruise’s crazy ‘ins*lt’ to a fan at the Mission Impossible premiere

Tom Cruise has become an unexpected meme this week, thanks to a viral video of his encounter with a fan at the Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning premiere.

Cruise has already been in eight Mission: Impossible films spanning over 30 years, and he returns for the next installment alongside Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Angela Bassett, and Pom Klementieff.

The star-studded cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Nick Offerman, Holt McCallany, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Janet McTeer.

Cruise and his co-stars attended the screening, where members of the press and fans were given the rare opportunity to interact with the actors and see the film ahead of time.

However, a contact Cruise had with a fan as he entered the screening went viral, causing others to experience second-hand shame.’

The video, taken from behind the famous actor, shows Cruise coming on stage but not before abruptly shouting out a fan.

“You’ve eaten all your popcorn already,” the 62-year-old told a fellow sitting in the front row.

“I feel both seen and secondhand embarrassed,” one user said on Reddit after seeing the popular video.

While a second Twitter user wrote, “Tom Cruise calling out fans for finishing their popcorn before the movie starts lol.”

Journalist Rachel Leishman, who attended the premiere, rushed to Twitter to describe what transpired, and it seems our popcorn was a popular subject.

Leishman wrote, “I’ll take this time to discuss the incredibly ridiculous facts Tom Cruise provided in his pre-screening address. First, he asked us all the time whether we had popcorn (I showed him my bucket to confirm), and then he said, ‘I generally eat two full buckets myself during a movie.’

“For contrast, I had maybe an eighth of the popcorn in my bucket, and Tom Cruise is only about 2 inches taller than I. So, Tom, where did the popcorn go?

Meanwhile, a video that went viral in 2023 showed Cruise sitting and eating a giant bucket of popcorn while saying, “I love my popcorn.” Movies. Popcorn.

Fans are anxious that the current Mission: Impossible film may be the last, and Cruise was coy when questioned by Variety about the franchise’s future at the Cannes Film Festival.

When questioned about the Final Reckoning being the series’ final installment, Cruise replied, “I’d rather people see it and enjoy it, and we’ve had a wonderful time doing it, and it’s been a lot of fun, and I just want you all to enjoy it.”

“Enjoy this and know everything is the culmination; [the series] has come to this moment right now.”
