PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive is revealed. And it may surprise you…

Stephen Colbert assisted in crowning John Krasinski as PEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive!

The major revelation occurred on the Tuesday, November 12 broadcast of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, when the host began the segment by returning it to two former recipients.

“In recent years I have had the tremendous honor of announcing Paul Rudd and Chris Evans for their terms as PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive,” Colbert, who is sixty, stated. “Consequently, it is permissible to assert that no man can be considered the most attractive until he has encountered these lips.”

After recognizing Krasinski, 45, as this year’s champion, Colbert said, “A sexy congrats to the very sexy John Krasinski.”

Then, dressed in a gray tailored suit, the Quiet Place star emerged from behind the stage to accept the award.

Krasinski then showed Colbert a humorous ’80s-themed commercial for “6 Simple Steps to Sexiness,” in which he instructed him how to become PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive. Spoiler alert: Chris Evans, PEOPLE’s 2022 SMA, made a surprise cameo!

In 2021, Colbert playfully conferred the title to Paul Rudd, a previous Sexiest Guy Alive, after subjecting the actor to a series of sexy guy tests. After Rudd’s death, Evans took the crown from Colbert and wore it for a year before stepping up to allow Patrick Dempsey to succeed him.

Krasinski joked in the latest issue of PEOPLE that he experienced an “immediate blackout” and “zero thoughts” after being named the sexiest man alive. “Maybe I’m being punked,” Krasinski continued. “That is not how I awaken, contemplating the possibility of being asked to be the most attractive man alive.” And yet, it was the day you two did it. You’ve truly elevated the bar for me.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs on weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
