Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, Pete Sampras’ wife, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
In a statement posted by the ATP Tour, the retired tennis player, 52, revealed information about Bridgette’s sickness.
“As most people have discovered, I am a fairly quiet and private individual.” “However, the last year has been an extraordinarily difficult time for my family, and I’ve decided to share what’s been going on,” he started the message, which was uploaded on X (previously Twitter).
“Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer,” she said. “Since then, she has had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy, and continues with targeted maintenance therapy.”
The 14-time Grand Slam winner then discussed how painful the process had been for their family.
“It’s difficult to watch someone you care about go through something like this.” “However, it’s been amazing to see our boys step up and be such strong supporters of Bridgette, myself, and each other,” he continued, referring to sons Christian, 20, and Ryan, 18.
He also lauded his wife of 23 years for her fortitude and persistence in the face of her health problems. “Watching Bridgette continue to be an incredible mom and wife through it all has been inspiring,” he went on to say.

Sampras ended his message by asking for prayers and support while Bridgette, 50, heals. “I’ve also learned that it’s difficult to seek help when something is simply too painful to discuss.” With that stated, I humbly request positive thoughts and prayers for our family while Bridgette thrives on her healing path.”
Andy Murray, another tennis star, commented on the post, “All the best to your wife and your family, Pete.”
Bridgette was an actress who appeared in films such as The Wedding Planner, Billy Madison, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Her television credits also include appearances on Frasier, Saved by the Bell, and CSI: Miami. In 1990, she was named Miss Teen USA.
Meanwhile, Sampras is considered one of the best tennis players of all time. He is most known for winning seven Wimbledon titles, five US Opens, and two Australian Opens. During his prime, he was known as “Pistol Pete” because of his strong serve. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2007, with Bridgette and his two boys by his side.
After nine months of dating, the pair married in 2000.
