We all do dumb things as children. After all, part of growing up is learning to say no to potentially unsafe situations.
Unfortunately, children are vulnerable to social pressure and the like; even the most clever of young people may be manipulated and persuaded to participate in pranks that have deadly effects.
Ask Tyler Broome’s parents, who suffered severe injuries after engaging in a YouTube craze known as ‘the circle of death.’. Yes, the name pretty much sums it up, but Tyler saw it as a way to show his friends how brave he was rather than an extremely risky prank.
The 11-year-old then received injuries similar to those observed in fighter pilots after being subjected to intense gravitational force (G-force).
He took part in the ’roundabout of death’ fad, which involves sitting in the middle of a playground roundabout while it is spun at high speed with the back wheel of a motorcycle.
Shortly after the incident, investigators found Tyler unconscious at the roundabout, possibly suffering from brain and visual damage. He is reported to have been subjected to G-forces typically experienced by pilots and astronauts.
Tyler was reportedly in a nearby park with a buddy when they were approached by a group of older kids who dared them to play the game.
Terrifying incident at the playground
“I don’t recognize my child; he’s on the edge of a stroke. Tyler sat on the roundabout, and the boy that approached him was around 17. Tyler does not know him, and they are not buddies, according to his mother, Dawn, as reported by the British daily The Independent.
“He puts his motorcycle on the floor and spins the roundabout at such a high pace. When they all stopped, the gang just cleared out; this is bul.ly.ing.”
Dawn stated that medical workers had never seen such injuries and had to conduct research before treating her kid. “His injuries were so severe, he resembled the Elephant Man. They’ve never seen it before and plan to use it to create a medical report.
“His skull has totally swollen up, his blood vessels have ruptured, and his eyes appear alien. His eyesight is hazy. You can handle a broken arm, but this? “He doesn’t remember it, not even the details.”
Parents, please keep in mind that children are more likely to attempt activities that adults would avoid, especially on the playground. Our thoughts and prayers are with little Tyler and his family. Share this story to alert others of a very hazardous game.
