Popular sports reporter’s 2-year-old daughter has passed away after battling for her life…

Nine months ago, Hallie Kyed, just two years old, faced the devastating diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia in April 2023. Sadly, as shared by her father, Doug Kyed, an NFL reporter for the Boston Herald, on Instagram, Hallie passed away at the tender age of 2 on January 21.

Doug Kyed conveyed the heartbreaking news that Hallie’s condition took a dire turn after a relapse following a bone marrow transplant, with her chemotherapy proving ineffective.

In Doug’s poignant Instagram post, he revealed that Hallie peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday morning while he and his wife, Jen, held her hands. The grief-stricken father expressed the profound loss, stating, “We’re completely lost and heartbroken without Hallie. Our lives will never be the same.”

Despite her young age, Doug emphasized that Hallie was a special child who left a positive impact on everyone she encountered. He expressed gratitude for being her parents, acknowledging that Hallie’s older sister, Olivia, was fortunate to have had the best baby sister.

Doug detailed the family’s awareness of the poor prognosis when Hallie relapsed post-transplant. Despite their hopes for remission due to Hallie’s bravery and resilience throughout the nine-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia, the aggressive form of the disease proved insurmountable after chemotherapy following the transplant proved ineffective.

Doug commended the efforts of the medical team at Boston Children’s Hospital, acknowledging their relentless dedication to helping Hallie. He reminisced about Hallie’s endearing traits, from her demand for walks around the hospital floor to her sweet pats on the back when taken out of her crib.

In an emotional tribute, Doug referred to Hallie as his “koala baby,” “little Hallie Bear,” and “Sour Patch Kid,” highlighting her beauty, natural humor, and anticipated stardom in dance class. Despite the profound loss, Doug hopes that those mourning Hallie’s passing will learn from her persistence in expressing desires, whether for a walk, a car ride, or a specific Disney dress.

Expressing his deepest sentiments, Doug shared his sorrow at missing simple yet precious moments like rubbing her hair, kissing her head, and telling her he loved her the most. He concluded the post with a heartfelt “Hallie forever.”

Hallie’s funeral is scheduled for January 26, and thoughts and prayers go out to the Kyed family during this extraordinarily challenging time.
