Prince Harry may be thousands of miles away from Buckingham Palace, but his latest step implies he’s no longer willing to maintain the emotional distance.
The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, plans to invite King Charles and Prince William to the 2027 Invictus Games. According to the Daily Mail, his invitation represents a huge step toward reconciliation with his estranged family members.

The Duke of Sussex is said to have approved the language of the invites, which will be distributed by email later this month, followed by official versions. The Invictus Games, launched by Harry in 2014 to benefit wounded service members, will be held in Birmingham from July 12 to 17, 2027, the day Queen Camilla turns 80.

According to royal insiders, the king meticulously organized the timing of the supposed invitation to align with his three-year agenda. If approved, the event might be Prince Harry’s first public appearance alongside senior royals since Queen Elizabeth II’s burial in 2022.

The move, perceived by many as a gesture of goodwill, has elicited conflicting reactions. Royal analyst Ingrid Seward observed the King’s reluctance, saying, “The only reason the King is wary of associating with his son is that he no longer trusts him not to repeat their private conversations, as he has done in the past.”
Nonetheless, she admitted that Charles might come to support the Armed Forces and recognize Harry’s accomplishments with Invictus. Katie Nicholl, another royal specialist, mirrored the sentiment.

She stated that the King might be willing to put aside personal differences because the “King absolutely wants a relationship with his youngest son and with his grandchildren,” and that the King may be attending Invictus because he “has an incredible capacity for forgiveness and he wants to be magnanimous in all of this.”
Despite the Royal Family’s longstanding support for Invictus, the anticipated appearance may present logistical and public relations issues for palace staff, particularly given the schedule conflict with Camilla’s milestone birthday celebrations.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the Duke of Sussex hopes that his father would accept the offer to honor the veterans, regardless of personal differences. The purported appeal comes after Harry’s emotional BBC interview, in which he stated, “I would love to reconcile with my family.” There’s no point in fighting anymore—life is valuable.”
He made the statement when discussing his UK security status, which he lost on a legal appeal. The Duke was “devastated” by the court’s verdict. He claimed the King “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.” “I’m not sure how much longer my father has.”

Harry also admitted he has forgiven his family, despite years of disagreements. He further revealed that the security battle has impacted him “every single day,” adding that his wife and children are also affected.
