Jeff Bezos is poised to marry Lauren Sanchez in a lavish wedding in Venice, Italy, this weekend, but the journey to the altar has not been without turbulence.
The wealthy Amazon entrepreneur and his fiancée have begun a five-day wedding celebration, with the big day apparently taking place tomorrow, June 28. Although the celebrations had already begun, the couple was forced to make last-minute modifications after their original wedding site was confronted with strong opposition from protesters.
“No space for Bezos”
Local activists, known as “No Space for Bezos,” have been opposing the wedding, citing worries about overtourism in Venice. The city, which is already dealing with deteriorating infrastructure and increased visitor traffic, has become a symbolic battleground for people opposed to billionaires staging lavish parties in sensitive historic sites.

The uproar was enough to drive Bezos and Sanchez to change locations, while their lavish European party is still in full flow, with high-profile guests continuing to arrive.
The event is a star-studded affair, with one notable omission. The guest list is just as dazzling as predicted. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, and Leonardo DiCaprio have allegedly visited Venice. However, one notable absence will be President Donald Trump.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Jeff Bezos has been attempting to get closer to former President Donald Trump, presumably aiming for the unofficial role of Trump’s new tech-world confidant, a position formerly held by Elon Musk.
The 61-year-old millionaire allegedly spoke with Trump on the phone twice in recent weeks. According to The Telegraph, Donald Trump was also invited to the wedding but rejected it due to “scheduling conflicts.”

The White House acknowledged the rejection, but numerous Trump family members, including Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr., would still attend.
In 2019, Donald Trump publicly mocked Jeff Bezos, calling him “Jeff Bozo” in reference to The Washington Post, which Bezos owns.
Despite its reputation as a left-leaning journal, The Washington Post elected not to endorse Kamala Harris in last year’s presidential race, breaking from its long-standing history of supporting Democratic candidates.
Sparked a design roast.
The couple’s invitation, unexpected from a millionaire, went viral online as the wedding hype grew.. Rather than inspiring awe, the design immediately became a meme.
However, the phrasing struck a generous tone:
“We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts.
Instead, we’re making contributions in your honor and with gratitude to you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Venice.
Donations on your behalf are being made to the UNESCO Venice Office to safeguard this city’s irreplaceable cultural heritage, to CORILA to restore the vital lagoon habitats that protect Venice’s future, and to Venice International University to support research and education for sustainable solutions.
This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories. Our hope is that through these efforts and by joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come.”

But while many praised the message, the invite’s aesthetics got roasted.
“This invite was proudly sponsored by Microsoft Paint and zero adult supervision,” one user quipped online.
“Money can’t buy taste. That invite was made on the canva app in the 11 minute trip to ‘space’,” joked another.
Despite the mocking, Bezos and Sanchez appear unfazed. With Venice as their background, A-listers coming by the hour, and celebrations already underway, the pair is determined to make their wedding day spectacular—naysayers, demonstrations, and poor font choices be damned.
