Remember him? Better sit down before you find out about his net worth, height, relationship and age…

The “Borgasmord Kid” must be remembered by more than just me, right? In the 1970s, he was well-known because of his freckles and fiery red hair, which he showed off in many TV ads.

When I saw how this former Hollywood star looks now in 2022, I was happy and surprised at the same time. Mason Reese is a full-grown adult now.

We’d love for you to join us as we take a more in-depth look at Mason Reese’s journey and how his life turned out after all of those great commercials…

Mason Reese was born in 1965. You could say that acting was in his blood from the start. William “Bill” Reese, his father, worked as a marketing service director and a set designer in the entertainment business.

The famous actress Sonia Darrin was Mason’s mother. She may be best known for her role in The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart (1946).

Given what happened to Mason’s parents, it might not be so surprising that he was in front of the camera at such a young age.

He was born in New York City and grew up there. He went to school in Manhattan all through his childhood.

He went to school at the St. Michael’s Montessori School, which is in the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church on the Upper West Side.

Mason was only 4 years old when he first appeared on TV in a commercial. Mason was chosen out of 600 other kids who had tried out for a job with Ivory Snow, a detergent company.

This was one of the first jobs Mason had.

In an interview with The Sacramento Bee in 1978, Mason said, “They needed a kid who looked like he was still in diapers but was old enough to talk intelligently, and ta-da! That was me.”

Due to the huge success of the advertising campaign, Mason became known as “the Ivory Snow Boy” in Philadelphia and New Jersey. At the CLIO awards, he won both for his commercial work and for his overall performance.

“Mason can’t do every kind of ad. He is neither a perfect white Protestant boy nor a fake person. He has people who like him and people who don’t like him because of how he looks.

Mason’s father, Bill, told The Boston Globe in 1973 that his son is “a very sensual and tactile child,” which means that he likes to be hugged and kissed.

According to Mason himself, there weren’t many commercial performances between 1970 and 1973. But at the end of 1973, a brand of canned ham got in touch with the boy, which changed the course of his life.

When Underwood Deviled Ham chose Mason to be on the cover of their famous “Borgasmord” ads, he became well-known all over the United States.

Someone once asked Mason how many times he had to practice saying “borgasmord” before he got it right.

The kid with the unique voice and red hair just smiled and said, “I didn’t,” according to The Boston Globe. The first time I did it, I did it right.”

There are many different stories and theories about how the word “borgasmord” came to be. Some people have said that Mason came up with the word himself, but this is not true.

In an interview with Chris Yandek, Mason tried to clear things up:

“It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the real word is “smorgasbord.” Everyone knows that. I also remember that Andy Doyle was the name of the director who worked with the ad agent.

Andy’s job was to kind of take control of me and get me to do what they needed.

So, he said, “I didn’t want to say “smorgasbord” wrong because I knew the word and I wanted America to know that I was smart and knew what the real word was.”

So, I didn’t want to say the word “smorgasbord” wrong. So Andy was determined for me to say it wrong. No matter what, he was going to get me to do it.”

So, on a piece of yellow paper, he wrote down 20 or 30 different words that sounded like smorgasbord. And I read them all, and when I saw the word “borgasmord,” I thought, “That’s a good one.”

“Mason, you won’t believe this,” Andy said as he looked at me with a wise expression. “What is that?” I asked. He said, “Borgasmord is the Swedish word for a smorgasbord.” It wasn’t true. It was not true at all.”

“I looked up at him, and I thought I was smarter than I really was, so we went with that word. So, it wasn’t me, my imagination, or my intelligence that came up with the idea.

Mason said, “It was really this man named Andy Doyle, who was a director in the advertising business.

Because of the famous TV commercial, Mason got a lot of new chances, and he won the CLIO award for Best Male Performance in a Commercial Television for the second time.

Most of us who grew up watching TV in the 1970s still call Mason the “Borgasmord Kid,” but he was also in a number of commercials that we still remember.

Mason’s fame and the money that started coming into his bank account made it hard for him and his parents to handle their daily lives.

The good thing was that the Mason seemed to enjoy acting; he just did what he liked to do.

“We’d stop it if we found out that acting was turning him into a smart-ass kid and making his life worse. We don’t want him to give up the things we think are important.

“It’s hard because as Mason’s parents, we get caught up in it,” Mason’s father told The Boston Globe.

When we look back at Mason’s early interviews, he seems like a very wise and humble young man. People loved his TV commercials, and he was well-known on the street and had won awards.

Still, he didn’t get carried away. Read what Mason had to say to those who thought he was a big star:

”What? Who? I’m not a superstar. No, they are famous people like Sammy Davis, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, and Dustin Hoffman.

Not me. I’m just a TV actor trying to do his part. I make this sound like a sad soap opera.” In 1978, he told The Orlando Sentinel, “I’ve done well so far, but I’m not a superstar.

At the height of his popularity, Mason was a frequent guest on The Mike Douglas Show. In fact, Mason was nearly given his own show.

Mason was in a pilot that ABC showed on July 4, 1977, but the network decided not to continue with it for a number of reasons.

After that, Mason met with Fred Silverman, a famous TV executive and producer, but he never got a script that was right for him and what he wanted to do.

“We’ve been given a lot of really bad parts,” he said.

Later, when Mason was in his teens, the number of jobs he could get slowly started to go down.

After leaving acting, Mason chose to do something completely different. He opened restaurants in New York City after starting his own business.

But that doesn’t mean that Mason never showed up on TV again. No, he didn’t just give one short answer. He played himself in the 1990 short film Whatever Happened to Mason Reese.

Then, in 2017, he made a web TV show with well-known actors like Dawn Wells and Alison Arngrim. In the Life Interrupted TV show, Mason had his first acting job in 31 years.

Mason is no longer in the restaurant business. All of his restaurants are now closed. Mason is 56 years old and is said to still live in New York, where he used to act.

The website Celebrity Net Worth says that the former actor has a net worth of $1 million.

Most people don’t know much about his personal life or the people he has dated, but in 2018, one of his relationships got a lot of attention from the media.

During that time, Mason Reese was dating an Instagram model with 174 thousand followers.

Mason, who is only 4 feet 10 inches tall, seems to be living a happy and healthy life now, which is different from many other child stars of the past.

“I just want people to know that, at the end of the day, I’m a pretty normal guy. I don’t live a normal life, but I’m probably the average guy.

Yeah. I think that’s everything. “I’m happy with what I’ve done.” In 2015, he told Chris Yandek, “You know, I’m proud of what I’ve done, and I want to make a name for myself again.

Mason, thank you for all the great memories you’ve given me over the years.

We hope you have a happy life and that people take the time to appreciate your talent and what you’ve done for television history.
