In a significant victory for Governor Ron DeSantis’ Florida and a substantial setback for a high-tax, high-crime, and highly regulated blue state, Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity has declared his departure from New York in favor of the Sunshine State. Hannity justified his decision by expressing his desire to leave the challenging environment of New York and relocate to the “free state of Florida.”
During a recent broadcast of his show, Hannity disclosed that it marked the inaugural major broadcast from his Florida-based studio, emphasizing that he had permanently left New York to reside in a state that upholds his rights and values.
Elaborating on his move, Hannity stated, “If anyone has been listening to this program for any length of time, I’ve been threatening to do this for quite a while. But we are now commencing our first broadcast from my new home, which is in the free state of Florida. I am out. I am done. I’m finished. New York, New York, goodbye. Florida, Florida, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. But it’s great to be here.”

Furthermore, Hannity expressed his delight at living in a state governed and represented by individuals who share similar values, in contrast to those with opposing values. He noted, “And finally, for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values. I have a governor by the name of Ron DeSantis and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott. So I’m feeling a lot better about it.”
Addressing the underlying reasons for his relocation, particularly taxes, crime, and regulations, he indirectly remarked, “And I’m not going to go through the whys, the how comes, because it’s obvious this migration out of the blue states with high taxes, burdensome regulation, high crime, horrible school districts is real. And if anything, I’m probably late and behind the curve and many others have made the move beforehand.”
Former President Trump also made a similar move from New York to Florida in 2019. Trump, in a Twitter announcement, stated, “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence.” Despite expressing affection for New York, Trump cited mistreatment by political leaders as a compelling factor in his decision to relocate.
