Selena Gomez has had some health difficulties in the past. Furthermore, she has faced online abuse as a result of her weight, and she has learned to endure and rise above it.
Gomez is a singer and actress who was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, in July 1992. Between 2007 and 2012, she starred in Disney’s television drama “Wizards of Waverly Place” as well as as a music singer.

She was named after the legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez and grew up in suburban Dallas. Gomez auditioned for the position of “Barney & Friends” on the PBS children’s television show and became a regular when she starred from 2002 to 2004.
In 2003, the brunette beauty made her feature film debut in “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.” She later auditioned for the Disney Channel and appeared as a guest on “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”

In 2007, Gomez was cast as Alex Russo in the popular comedy “Wizards of Waverly Place.” The series was an instant success with adolescent viewers, and she received attention for her performance, much like the channel’s top star at the time, Miley Cyrus.
However, in the middle of her international stardom, Gomez has received her fair share of criticism over her beauty from admirers, particularly online trolls. She’s had her body humiliated.
Gomez went live on TikTok in February 2023 to respond to her followers who had posted critical remarks about her figure, saying that she is on medicine that causes her to gain weight.
The TV personality advised individuals who are self-conscious about their appearance that they are “beautiful and wonderful,” adding that she would rather be healthy and take care of herself.

Gomez acknowledged her love for her fans and thanked them for their support and understanding. Those who were less supportive were told to “go away” since she “doesn’t believe in shaming people.” In addition, the 31-year-old stated:
“I’m not a model.” It will never be. And, mind you, I think they’re fantastic; I’m not that.”

Gomez previously addressed the TikTok body-shaming remarks, claiming she doesn’t care about her weight because people speak about how big or little she is in any case, adding:
“I’m perfect exactly the way I am.”

After being off the internet for four years, she decided to make a comeback by raising awareness about issues like body image and mental health.
In April 2022, Gomez hit back at internet body shamers, arguing that being “skinny” isn’t worth losing out on her favorite foods because people will always comment on her weight.

The “Monte Carlo” actress frequently claimed in her March 2023 Apple TV Plus docuseries that she was unaffected by criticism, but she was. She simply did not want those who were experiencing body shaming to go through it as well. “It’s just so unfair to me.” “I don’t believe anyone deserves to feel inferior,” the businesswoman stated.

When asked how being disconnected from the internet affected her, Gomez stated, “It has completely changed my life.” I’m happy now. I’m more alert. I’m making more connections with people. It gives me a sense of normalcy.”
The producer announced her return to social media on Instagram in early 2023. In the months that followed, she released makeup-free images with the caption “Me.”
Gomez has lupus, and the medication she takes to manage the ailment causes her to gain weight. In March 2018, her best friend, actress Francia Rasa, opened up about how the singer’s illness deteriorated while they shared a room.
Rasa, who was featured in “Grown-ish,” stated that Gomez went to obtain her test results one day before having a nervous breakdown at home. When she inquired what was wrong, Gomez said, “I need a new kidney.” I’m not sure what I’ll do; the queue is seven to ten years.”

Rasa said that she offered to get tested right away. Without Gomez’s knowledge, she called her assistant for further information. When she found out she was a match, she underwent surgery to give her kidney to her buddy.
It took them both three hours to complete the procedure. Rasa stated that she struggled to eat or drink anything throughout her rehabilitation, and Gomez also had a problem. She had an arterial break and was transported to the hospital for emergency surgery. “She could’ve died,” Rasa acknowledged.

She and Gomez kept the news quiet for a few weeks since they were both depressed at the time and the rehabilitation process was difficult for them both. They only notified close relatives and friends before sharing their tale on the “Today” show.
Gomez officially revealed the procedure on Instagram in September 2017, sharing a snapshot of herself and Rasa holding hands while lying on hospital beds. She also tweeted photographs of her surgical scars and a lengthy statement regarding her medical condition.

The “Only Murders in the Building” actor praised her family and medical personnel for their help during the crisis, and she also thanked Rasa, saying there were no words to convey what she had done for her. The Hollywood actress wrote:
“By donating her kidney to me, she gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice.” I am quite fortunate. Sister, I adore you.”
Sources close to Gomez disclosed in September 2017 that her faith in God helped her get through her horrific struggle with renal failure and lupus. She has apparently become a Christian and prayed fervently for a better outcome.
Gomez also voiced her thanks for Rasa’s altruistic deed in March 2023, saying she is grateful to her. She added that she was overwhelmed since her fellow celebrity did not hesitate to assist her by giving her one of her organs.
