Serena Williams stated that she told her daughter Olympia about her pregnancy just before the Met Gala.
On Friday, the tennis great, 41, uploaded a snippet from an upcoming YouTube video on Instagram, explaining why she delayed telling Olympia, 5.
She has Olympia with her husband, Reddit co-founder and entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, whom she married in 2017.
The video begins with a glimpse of a positive pregnancy test and then cuts to Williams getting dressed for the Met Gala.
“Olympia doesn’t know I’m pregnant right now, so the big reveal will be at the Met, and then I’ll tell Olympia before we leave,” Williams stated in the video.
“The only reason I haven’t told her is because she can’t keep a secret.”

Commenters congratulated the author and expressed sympathy for having to keep knowledge from youngsters.
“Kids will outwit you quickly without any second thought,” one user remarked.
Williams’ channel will provide “behind-the-scenes” material, according to its description.
In addition to walking the red carpet with Ohanian, Williams revealed her pregnancy with photographs of their Met Gala outfits on Instagram with the statement, “I was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the three of us to the Met Gala.”
Williams gave birth to Olympia in September 2017 and spoke about the medical issues she faced in a CNN column published in February 2018.
“I almost died after giving birth to my daughter, Olympia,” wrote Williams. She goes on to discuss experiencing a pulmonary embolism, which is a blockage of a lung artery caused by a blood clot, following her emergency C-section.
This isn’t the first time Williams has spoken up about her family.
Williams spoke to Insider about her “mom guilt” in April 2022.
“Mom guilt exists. “Whenever I do something on my own, I always feel so guilty,” Williams explained. “I don’t know if I’m a good mom, and I’m not sure if my method works, but I’m very hands-on with my daughter, and it was the same with our parents.”
In addition to discussing children, Williams has shared details about her love life with her spouse.
Williams said on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in September 2022 that the two met in an Italian hotel after Ohanian sat next to her.
“This man walks in and the entire building is vacant. “And this guy, like really tall, comes in with his computer and sits right next to us,” she explained. “And he turns on his computer and begins typing.” And I’m thinking, ‘Why?’ I was furious and wondered, “Why is this guy here?”
Before they started dating, the two started conversing and later reconciled after one of her tennis tournaments.
