The actress, who memorably played Erica Kane on “All My Children” for almost 40 years, appeared on “Good Morning America” on Monday to continue her soap opera combat lessons with co-anchor Michael Strahan.
During her “GMA” interview, Lucci recalled Strahan’s “great sport” attitude in 2023, when she told him all about the phony TV slap.
Despite Strahan’s lack of recovery from their first class, he asked Lucci how to take things to the next level, and she was eager to assist.
The two then rose up, and Lucci gave additional advice, stating, “It’s really important not to have a fight out of nowhere,” and that you have to build up to “that moment where you are really, really ticked off.”
Lucci, adding that a prop can assist, picked up a glass of water, causing “GMA” co-anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos to exit the set.

During their fictitious fight, Lucci sprayed Strahan with water.
“You have to have better aim than I just had,” Lucci chuckled, while Strahan added, “I still got wet though!”
After emphasizing that the “aim” is for a moment like that to be a “one-take scene,” Lucci tried again, this time landing the whole glass of water in Strahan’s face.
In classic soap opera tradition, it didn’t end there. Someone handed Lucci a full pitcher of water, and he generously poured it over Strahan’s head.
“Can you come by every week, Susan?” Roberts joked.
Lucci will appear in the Broadway play “My First Ex-Husband,” written by “View” co-host Joy Behar, beginning February 26.
