The British actor may be remembered as one of the most gifted in history, but he is also recognized for his compassionate personality and support for others in the field.

The 51-year-old is known to have helped actress Jodie Comer, who is also from Liverpool, early in her career, and she acknowledged him in her BAFTA speech in 2019.

Graham, the hero of the new Netflix blockbuster series Adolescence, had to wait for his career breakthrough, which came in 2006 with his part as Combo in This Is England.

Following his performance in the drama, he went on to feature in popular films such as the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and The Irishman, among others.

In addition to acting in popular movies and television shows, the actor is renowned for developing strong relationships with the cast members of his projects.

One of these performers was Thomas Turgoose, who portrayed Shaun Fields on This Is England.

At the age of 13, he played a young lad who joined a skinhead group, which included Combo (Graham).

While he begins by idolizing the gang member, the boy gradually realizes his violent and bigoted tendencies.

Away from the screen, Turgoose was going through a difficult period at home when his mother, Sharon, died from lung cancer.

As a result, the film was dedicated to her, as he explained on a 2021 edition of the Private Parts podcast, adding, “Stephen Graham told my mother he’d watch out for me.

“Everyone involved in This is England is family to me.”

Following the devastating loss, he planned to move in with his estranged father until Graham and Meadows gave him a place to live.

“When my mum died, I moved in with my dad, and I didn’t know him, so Shane Meadows and Stephen Graham were going to adopt me if things didn’t work out with my dad,” Turgoose told me.

Turgoose went on to feature in several installments of the film series, including This Is England ’86 in 2010, This Is England ’88 the following year, and This Is England ’90 in 2015.

However, his life may have turned out quite differently.

Turgoose stated that he was headed for prison before earning Shaun’s part, saying, “I was bound for prison.” I was stealing items that I did not need.

“There was a hardware store in Grimsby that I used to steal spray paint from for no reason.”

In 2018, the actor married his longtime wife, Charlotte Revell, and invited other co-stars from This Is England, including Graham.

In an Instagram post, the 33-year-old shared a snapshot of himself and his wife with his co-stars, simply captioned “Family.”
