Steve Harvey’s emotional tribute to his wife, Marjorie, at the Grammy Awards made everyone tear up

During his winning speech at the Grammy Awards, Steve Harvey became upset while praising his wife.

The Family Feud presenter, 66, received the Television Icon trophy on Saturday, dedicating the majority of his acceptance speech—as well as the trophy itself—to his wife of 16 years, Marjorie Harvey.

During his address, Steve stated, “That woman right there has been down with me like four flat tires,” according to a videotape of the award presentation uploaded by theGrio on X (previously Twitter).

The television legend went on to explain that his wife has been “faithful” and “loyal to me,” pointing to Marjorie and saying, “85% of what y’all up here [are] talking to me about happened after I married that girl right there.”

Steve also appears to have addressed recent allegations that Marjorie cheated on him, which the pair has denied.

“We’ve been going for 18 years,” he remarked. “I don’t know what y’all have been trying to do, but we covered it.”

Before delivering his trophy to event personnel to give to his wife, the seven-time Emmy winner quoted various biblical texts, including Isaiah 54:17, Isaiah 43:1-2, and Psalm 91.

“I love you, Marjorie Harvey,” he said finally. “I appreciate you riding with me.”

Other honorees at the 2023 award ceremony included Mariah Carey, Don Cheadle, Misty Copeland, Kevin Hart, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Denzel Washington, and Eddie Murphy. According to a press release, businessman Byron Allen created the award ceremony “to celebrate and amplify African American excellence and the incredible champions from other communities who truly support us.”

Steve and Marjorie both issued comments in August, when rumors of adultery in their marriage appeared on X and began to circulate online.

Steve addressed the claims during his concert at Invest Fest 2023 in Atlanta, stating, “Before I get started, just let me say, I’m fine.” Marriage is fine,” one attendee’s TikTok shows.

After the applause died down, the singer said, “I don’t know what y’all are doin’, but find something else to do ’cause we fine, Lord have mercy.”

Marjorie responded to the accusations later that day with an Instagram post, posting an article titled “How to Handle Being Lied About,” which featured a Bible quote concerning “hurled insults.”

“My husband and I don’t usually stop to address all the foolishness and lies that have been spread about us,” she said in the post. “However, much is required of those to whom much is given.” I recognize that my platform has some type of obligation to people who may not be as powerful as we are.”

“Read and share this with your loved ones who may not know how to properly cope,” she went on to say. “God bless all of you 🙏🏾😍.”

Although they met in the 1990s, Steve and Marjorie married in 2007 and recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.

After marrying, the couple combined their families, which now comprise seven children—Brandi, Karli, Broderick, Wynton, Morgan, Jason, and Lori—and seven grandkids.

Steve told people five years after the pair married that Marjorie “changed the way I existed.”

“I’d never been in a healthy adult relationship,” he explained. “I’d never been loyal; I’d never been fully respected.”
