The link between dogs and humans is clearly extraordinary, having been named “man’s best friend.” Dogs, like Edgar the dog, display protective and territorial behaviors as social creatures, particularly when they consider themselves part of a family.
Meet Dog Edgar, the hero. Edgar, a 4-year-old dog originally branded “unadoptable,” frequently hangs around at the local humane society shelter, where Melissa Lambert, a mother of three kids, brings her daughters on a daily basis to play with the animals!

Melissa couldn’t help but fall in love with Edgar when she met him, and despite having three young girls ages three to eight, Melissa and her husband, Thom, finally welcomed Edgar into their home in Franklin County.
After attending a funeral, the Lamberts went home in the early hours of April 28th. Thomas told Edgar at 3:45 a.m., “Even when Thom tried to relax him, the dog wouldn’t stop.”

Thom rushed downstairs after hearing footsteps across his kitchen floor, only to discover his window and kitchen door open, despite the fact that he had locked them before going to bed. He promptly pulled his three daughters and wife into a room and dialed 911.
Thom described to the cops how Edgar had a barking and snarling outburst, but they were skeptical. Thom Lambert told PennLive: “And the cops are like, so this is the dog you’re saying went crazy?”

Thom says Edgar went back to sleep when his task was completed. The next day, authorities detained Thomas Dewald, 20, in connection with Gemma Moats’ abduction. He’d been looking for unattended youngsters in the Lamberts’ area for weeks!
This merely goes to illustrate why the human-dog bond will endure for a long time. Some may consider keeping dogs in the home unsanitary and unpleasant, but the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. They are also wonderful, caring companions.
