Tiger Woods confirmed on X that his mother, Kultida Woods, died on February 4. He viewed her as a powerful lady whose support was critical to his achievement.
“My mom was a force of nature all her own; her spirit was simply undeniable,” Tiger posted on Facebook. “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter; without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible.”
He also commented on her strong affection for her grandsons, Sam and Charlie, and thanked fans for their support during this trying period.
Kultida was a continuous presence throughout her son’s illustrious career. She recently attended his TMRW Golf League (TGL) debut, demonstrating her continued support.

Tiger’s mother’s fortitude and warmth created an indelible impression on everyone who knew her, even other players. Fred Couples, a golf star, paid homage to Kultida on X, recalling her as a dynamic presence.
Kutilda’s influence stretched beyond the sidelines, influencing even the tiniest parts of Tiger’s playing, including a daring ritual that would come to define him: his red shirt on Sunday.
“My mom thought that being born a Capricorn, that red was my power color,” Woods recalled once. “So, at some of the junior golf competitions in Southern California, I would wear red.” And I won.” To test her belief, he purposefully switched to blue for additional events, only to prove her wrong.
“I didn’t win,” Tiger acknowledged. “And so I switched to red, and I had a lot more success wearing it.” Recognizing the trend, he ultimately reached an agreement with his mother: he would save red for the final round of major events rather than wearing it every day.

Kultida accepted the compromise. “She said, ‘Fine. Just wear it until the last day.” Tiger shared. His mother’s belief established a long-standing tradition for him, which he took with him to the pinnacle of his career.
As Tiger mourns his mother’s passing, he remembers the teachings and strength she instilled in him—values that helped form him into the champion he is today.
Tiger turned to his family for comfort in the midst of his sadness. One of those unforgettable experiences occurred at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, where he spent time on the course with his children.
On December 21, 2024, he was photographed with Sam and Charlie, both 15, which wowed people who saw how much Sam resembled her mother, Elin Nordegren.
It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning. My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter,… pic.twitter.com/RoKd0fsM9J

Tiger and Charlie competed in the 2024 PNC Championship, maintaining a tradition they’ve had for several years. Meanwhile, Sam returned for her second year as a caddie for her father after making her debut at a tournament in 2023.
The golfer has children with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, whom he married in 2004 and divorced in 2010. Charlie was born in 2009; Sam in 2007.
Fans were ecstatic to meet Charlie and Sam, with many drawing a resemblance between the children, particularly Sam, and wondering if she resembled her mother or father. One admirer soon noted Sam’s likeness to her mother, saying, “Daughter looks like Elin.” “She is beautiful, just like her mama.”
Someone observed the familial resemblance and remarked, “The kids look great.” She looks so much like her mother.” A separate fan noticed the similarities and commented, “Such lovely kids! Another fan commented, “They look like their mother.” “Beautiful children.”
While some admirers noticed a striking likeness between Sam and her mother, others thought she looked more like Tiger. Many people adored her grin, noticing its resemblance to her father’s. Meanwhile, another admirer praised Charlie’s golf talents.
Another fan praised the family’s appearance, saying, “His children are gorgeous; they resemble both parents.” A fan also complimented the family’s closeness, writing, “A proud father. Congratulations to their mother as well. 👏.
Tiger Woods’ mom was in attendance for his TGL debut just a couple of weeks ago to cheer on her son just as she was during every single step of his career.
She was always there, and always proud.

Sam particularly captured the attention of one fan, who expressed respect for her beauty. Another fan praised the family’s closeness, stating that their time on the golf course showed their joy in being together.
Tiger named her kid Sam Alexis in honor of both her parents’ families and her late grandfather. Her father asserted that he derived the name from his late father, who consistently referred to him as Sam instead of Tiger.
“He seldom nicknamed me Tiger. I would ask him, ‘Why don’t you call me Tiger?’ “He says, ‘Well, you look more like Sam,'” the golfer stated. Tiger Woods felt the name Sam was appropriate for his daughter because she was born the day after Father’s Day.
Sam adores her father, whom she has previously lavished with adoration. During the Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony in March 2022, Sam complimented her father’s tenacity. She praised his accomplishments, which included being the first Black and Asian golfer to win a major, winning his fifth Masters following back surgery, and walking again only months after a tragic tragedy.
What an amazing and tough and strong woman Kultida Woods was. She lit up the room with her smile and she would always give you the business when you deserved it. I’ll miss her. Thinking of @tigerwoods and his family.

Sam is currently following a different path than her brother, Charlie, by opting not to follow in her father’s footsteps as a golfer. Tiger previously claimed that Sam had a “negative connotation” for the sport because it frequently pulled him away throughout her youth.
At the height of his success, Tiger traveled extensively for games, leaving little Sam behind. However, father and daughter have formed a close relationship via common interests outside of golf, and Charlie and Tiger love spending time together on the course.
Charlie made news on December 23, 2024, during the final round of the PNC Championship by hitting his first hole-in-one at Florida’s Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. On a par-3 hole, he accomplished an unbelievable feat with a 7-iron.
In the video, the teen’s concentration was clear as he took a flawless swing and followed the ball’s trajectory.
The ball landed about six feet to the left of the hole before slowly rolling into the cup.
As the ball vanished, Charlie halted in mid-stride, elevating his outstretched palm to waist level with a shocked look on his face.

The audience exploded in shouts when the young golfer embraced his father, Tiger, in a warm, joyful hug. Their identical red shirts and black slacks contributed to the classic scene, evoking Tiger’s unique flair.
Tiger screamed with pride, “Yeah!” and gave Charlie a friendly shove as they celebrated the occasion together.
Charlie remarked about his accomplishment after the round, filled with astonishment and enthusiasm. “It was awesome,” he remarked. “No one made a mistake today, so it was some of the most enjoyable times I’ve ever had.” In addition, I made an ace. I don’t believe I can top it.”
For Tiger, the occasion was as memorable as any in his illustrious career. “That’s one of the highlights we’ve ever had,” he told me.
Tiger commented on Charlie’s development in the game, saying, “On the prior hole, he made his first eagle (in a previous PNC), and now he just made his first hole-in-one. It’s an enchanting two-hole stretch. I’m simply so pleased for him and the fun we had as a family.”
Tiger acknowledged that he is not in top physical condition for competitive play but underlined his worth as a reliable partner in scramble-style golf, in which players give their best shots collectively.
He stated that the tournament’s biggest reward was the ability to play alongside his son and enjoy such significant moments on the course.
Team Woods shared the first-round lead at 13-under 59 with Team Langer (Bernhard and Jason Langer) and Team Singh (Vijay and Qass Singh), paving the way for an exciting conclusion. In the playoff, Team Langer won the championship with a flawless approach shot and an 18-foot eagle putt.

Team Woods finished in second place, their second top-two result at the PNC Championship. Their previous best result was in 2021, when they finished second, two strokes behind John Daly and his son John Daly II.
Following Team Langer’s victory, Bernhard voiced faith in Team Woods’ future success, saying, “I’m convinced they’ll win this thing in the next few years.” “They are simply too good.”
While Tiger Woods is still a powerful presence in golf, the great sportsman admitted to losing a game to his son. “Yeah, he defeated me by nine holes. They have yet to defeat me over 18 holes. That day is coming. Tiger said, “I’m just prolonging it as long as possible.”
Charlie, being the son of a golf star, consistently faces high expectations. Tiger, on the other hand, offers basic advice to encourage him. “You understand, Charlie is Charlie. Yes, he is my son. “He’ll have that last name as part of the sport, but I just want him to be himself,” he explained.

The adoring father went on to say, “That is what we have been [and will always be] focused on. I will constantly urge him to create his own name, route, and adventure.”
Tiger showed faith in Charlie’s resiliency when asked how he dealt with the strains of the limelight, saying, “I think he is doing a great job.” He noted that his kid confronts particular issues as a member of a generation that is continuously scrutinized by social media, with every moment documented and monitored.
Tiger admitted that Charlie would have to deal with this kind of notoriety as he develops as a golfer and a person. “I try to do the best job I possibly can as a parent,” Tiger told me. “I’m always here for him.”
Charlie’s hole-in-one at the 2024 PNC Championship demonstrated his prowess as well as the deep friendship he and Tiger share, making it a memorable event in their golfing careers.
