In 2016, a video depicting a mother’s final moments before being attacked by a tiger shocked social media users worldwide.

The woman, accompanied by her daughter and other family members, was driving through Beijing’s Badaling Wildlife World in their car. Prior to entering the park, they signed an agreement stating they wouldn’t exit the vehicle due to the risks associated with freely roaming animals.

However, feeling unwell, the daughter, known as Zhao, left the vehicle. Disturbing footage showed her checking on traffic shortly after leaving the car.

Suddenly, a Siberian tiger attacked Zhao, pulling her to the ground and dragging her into the bushes. Despite her mother’s efforts to save her, another tiger attacked and fatally mauled the mother in front of the family and other park visitors.

Zhao sustained serious injuries but survived the attack. She claimed the park hadn’t adequately warned them of the dangers and believed the agreement she signed was merely for entry registration. The family sued the park for the loss of her mother, alleging lack of awareness about the risks and negligence from nearby park officials who failed to intervene.

Authorities in the Yanqing District concluded the woman’s death wasn’t an ‘industry security accident,’ absolving the park of responsibility.
