Any child has the potential to be a hero, and this was evident when a group of kids, known as the “Tremendous Twelve,” gained online fame for their quick thinking during an Easter egg hunt in Capel, Surrey. The teens crafted a human arrow to guide a police helicopter towards two fleeing burglary suspects. Accompanied by their loyal Yorkshire terrier named Molly, reminiscent of Enid Blyton’s fictional characters, the children, aged six to twelve, proudly shared their experience with The Mail on Sunday. Their initiative and creativity were commended by Surrey Police, who posted the footage online, making the kids internet sensations.
The children, recalling the event, mentioned their excitement as they observed the police helicopter circling during their Easter egg hunt. A nine-year-old girl remembered the noise and seeing the word “police” on the helicopter’s bottom. Their attention was drawn to a man racing along the field’s edge, removing his jumper and wrapping it around his head.

Despite their attempts to yell and signal the chopper to turn toward the man, it seemed to be pointing in the opposite direction. Two of the children then suggested forming a human arrow, and they quickly positioned themselves on the ground. After resting in the mud for about a minute, they noticed the helicopter approaching.
The pilot, having spotted the children making a human arrow, contacted the authorities on the ground. As a result, the two burglary suspects, aged 27 and 28, were captured, questioned, and linked to a nearby farm burglary.

Reflecting on the incident, a ninth-grade girl shared that initially, the authorities thought they were playing around. However, they followed the human arrow created by the children and successfully apprehended the suspects. The kids, thrilled with the outcome, became well-known online after Surrey Police posted the footage.
One of the parents, Ben Brearley, mentioned that the kids enjoyed the excitement and compared the situation to scenes from Scooby-Doo or an Enid Blyton book. Sergeant Paul Sochon of Surrey Police praised the initiative displayed by the kids, emphasizing its vital role in the successful resolution of the incident.
