The Dairy Queen store is in trouble because of a controversial sign they put up. What’s worse, for some people, is that the owner won’t say sorry for it…

A note displayed on the front window of a Dairy Queen restaurant in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has garnered attention and is currently trending online. The sign boldly proclaims the restaurant’s adherence to traditional holiday greetings like “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Easter,” and “God Bless America,” while also expressing support for veterans by offering them free sundaes on Veterans Day, along with displaying the US flag and words of gratitude for their military service.

The restaurant’s owner, Kevin Scheunemann, defended the sign, stating that it was put up nearly four years ago to transparently showcase his and his staff’s dedication to serving God and country. Scheunemann explained that the sign was posted in response to a customer complaint about Christian music playing in the establishment and has not sparked further issues since then.

The sign gained renewed attention after a visitor from Oregon shared a photo of it on Facebook, expressing concerns about its perceived exclusivity. While some individuals agree with the message conveyed by the sign, others have criticized the person who shared the photo and voiced their opinions. Local business owners, however, support Scheunemann’s decision to display the sign, asserting that patrons are free to leave if they disagree with its sentiments.

Residents of Kewaskum, a small town, seem to interpret the sign as an expression of the owner’s beliefs and have largely taken it at face value. Dairy Queen officially stated that Scheunemann’s approach is not endorsed by the corporation and that the sign reflects only the opinions of this particular franchise owner. The company emphasized that regardless of a customer’s religious views, all franchisees and employees are expected to treat them with respect and decency.
