How many people would come to the aid of a complete stranger in need? Unfortunately, the answer is not many. Those who would, on the other hand, are the ones who keep the world turning.

Ryan O’Donnell was conducting his grocery shopping with his children at the store.

Ryan and his boys approached the register once they had gathered everything they required. In front of them was an elderly lady attempting to pay for her groceries, but her card was continually denied.

Because he didn’t want the woman to leave the store empty-handed, Ryan opted to pay for the woman’s groceries. The lady was meant to pay $44, but Ryan withdrew $50 from his pocket and offered to pay for her groceries.

The woman couldn’t disguise her joy. She thanked Ryan and asked how she could repay the courtesy, to which Ryan answered, “Don’t worry, have a nice day.”

Ryan had no idea someone was monitoring and photographing him as he demonstrated compassion and conducted a nice act.

The photographs, along with Ryan’s narrative of compassion shred, garnered a lot of attention after they were posted on social media. Many people complimented him for his actions.

When asked why he paid for the woman’s groceries, Ryan told a local news outlet, “I did what my parents taught me—to help others when I could!”

Consider how different the world would be if there were more Ryans.
