The flight attendant slams back at the angry passenger who made her coworker cry: ‘I am not your servant’

A video of a violent fight between an Indian airline staff member and a customer has gone viral, eliciting diverse reactions from netizens. The mid-air altercation occurred on a journey from Istanbul to Delhi, with many other passengers serving as stunned witnesses.

Many people prefer airline travel when going long distances, and commercial flights are regarded as the safest means of transportation. While transition and stopover flights help passengers avoid jet lag, there are occasions when they have no choice but to travel vast distances by airline.

Typically, airlines strive to give customers the greatest services possible so that they may have a wonderful experience and remember them in the future. But occasionally things go wrong, resulting in unforeseen circumstances that are highly painful for everyone concerned. A similar event occurred on an IndiGo flight in late 2022.

On December 16, 2022, an ugly altercation occurred aboard aircraft 6E 12 from Istanbul to Delhi. A female IndiGo flight attendant instructed a male customer to refrain from pointing his finger at her or yelling at her after he reportedly made a fellow crew member cry.

However, someone interrupted her in the middle of her speech, igniting tempers and escalating the conflict.

A video of the mid-air row captured the female attendant attempting to reason with the passenger, whose face was not visible. Her colleague stood alongside her, doing her utmost to soothe and comfort her after the sad situation.

In the video, a passenger can be heard asking the flight attendant, “Why are you yelling?” And she said, “Because you are yelling at us.” She stood her ground and continued:

“I’m sorry, sir, but you don’t speak to the crew that way. I am listening to you quietly and respectfully, but you must also respect the team.

The crew informed the male passenger that pointing his fingers at them was unacceptable when he inquired about how he had mistreated them. The disagreement heated up when the man yelled, “Shut up!” at the air hostess, at which point she lost her cool and responded:

“Shut up!” I am sorry, but you cannot talk to me like that…I am an employee, not your servant.”

Shortly after, the flight attendant re-applied her face mask, turned around, and exited, followed by her colleague. Several other passengers watched the entire incident and were perplexed by how things went wrong.

According to an IndiGo statement, the unpleasant situation involved meals chosen by a customer flying via a codeshare link.

The statement reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to offering a polite and hassle-free service for their passengers, who have always been their priority. The statement also promised to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

A deeper look at the videotape from the December event revealed that the quarrel arose over IndiGo’s food offerings.

The guy wanted a meal that he had not ordered prior to boarding; therefore, the female flight attendant informed him that only a limited amount of meals were put onto the plane and would be given following the customers’ pre-departure orders. However, the flight attendant interrupted her mid-sentence, igniting a heated argument and escalating the tension.

According to an Indian media site, the male customer requested a sandwich; the staff informed him that they would check to see whether it was available before he grew unhappy and an airline employee began sobbing.
