Performing in front of a live audience can be nerve-wracking for many, even seasoned professionals. However, the a cappella group “Straight No Chaser” faces no such apprehension as they know their performance will inevitably culminate in a standing ovation, such is their mastery of their craft.
Originally formed at the University of Indiana over two decades ago by Dan Ponce and Randy Stine in 1996, the ten-man ensemble gained widespread recognition in 2007 when a video of their rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas” went viral on YouTube. This catapulted them into the spotlight and caught the attention of Atlantic Records, leading to a record deal.

Their ascent to fame is attributed not only to their exceptional talent but also to their cleverly crafted lyrics, particularly in their humorous take on Christmas carols. Despite undergoing some personnel changes over the years, they have managed to maintain their popularity and continue touring for almost three decades.
In their latest performance, they present a cover of what they describe as “one of the best songs from the 1960s, one of the quintessential hits” – Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me.” True to their words, their a cappella rendition does justice to the timeless classic, delivering a rendition that is sure to bring a smile to your face.
