With her unbrushed hair, unrestrained excitement, and raw energy, Ann-Margret brought a much-needed breath of fresh air to the 1960s.
The Swedish-born, 81-year-old actress charmed everyone with her beauty, charisma, and dance skills.
Despite being married separately, they stayed dedicated to one another despite the fact that her connection with Elvis Presley was well-known at the time.

According to Ann-Margret, “We were genuinely soul mates, bashful on the exterior but untamed inside.
Today, Ann-Margret Olsson is recognized as one of the greatest actresses of all time.
She was one of the greatest live performers that old Hollywood has ever produced, so her legacy will survive for a very long time.
Today, though, we’ll go a bit deeper into her fervent attachment to Elvis Presley.
Ann-Margret did share some extremely fascinating insights in her book, My Story, despite her intense secrecy about what really happened between the two superstars.
Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret never knew each other before, but we do know that they fell in love in 1964 while Elvis was filming Viva Las Vegas.

Though Ann-Margret claims that Presley and she were soul mates, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll ultimately chose to wed Priscilla. Additionally, due to their chemistry and love affair, Elvis’ future bride would suffer severely.
While filming Viva Las Vegas, everyone could see Ann-Margret and Elvis’ passion.
Despite the fact that she had previously blown her last three male co-stars off the screen, Elvis was able to match her fire and excitement. According to Filmink, she was his, and he was the finest on-screen companion she had ever had.
But off-camera, the beautiful couple’s affection for one another remained undeniably real. They didn’t simply fall in love while watching a movie.
They were instantly and strongly attracted to one another.

Ann-Margret remarked, “We both felt a current, an electricity that went straight through us.” It would develop into a force that we couldn’t manage.
Ann-Margret said that Elvis wanted them to be married. They typically spent their dates in a car on a hill, talking while looking down at the city.
Ann-Margret had more proof that Elvis thought highly of her since he periodically asked to be completely alone with her. Their connection only got stronger as a result of Elvis’s demonstration of trust in her.
“Although timid on the outside and wild on the inside, we were true soul mates. We were both self-destructive in our own ways and lived on the brink. In many respects, if you set aside our fame and everything we accomplished so rapidly, Ann-Margret and I still behaved like children and were emotionally insecure.
But there was a problem with the relationship Elvis shared with Priscilla Presley. One year before the Viva Las Vegas premiere, Elvis had asked Priscilla, who was then 17 years old, to move in with him in Memphis.
She wasn’t present, though, while Ann-Margret and Elvis were filming in Hollywood.

In contrast to the other women he had a crush on, Priscilla believed that their relationship was actually in danger because of Elvis’s affair with Ann-Margret. Despite Elvis’ furious denials, Priscilla was aware of his plans.
Priscilla was terrified of the stunning blonde before their wedding, but she later understood that the vibrant and charming Swede was too much like Elvis. Given Elvis’ ideals, it wasn’t ideal that they were “mirror images.” He had a typical, traditional view of marriage. Priscilla Presley fit the bill; Ann-Margret did not.
They continued to write each other love letters after Viva Las Vegas, but soon Elvis knew he had to break up with Ann-Margret.
In My Tale, Ann-Margret stated, “We realized that our relationship had to stop and that Elvis needed to keep his promise.
The actress described their breakup as a “confusing situation” as their romance fizzled.
She claimed, “I knew there were other things in Elvis’ life that pulled him away from me.

After Elvis married Priscilla, the two continued to communicate even after their love connection stopped. Every time she gave a performance in Las Vegas, “The King” used to bring her floral bouquets in the form of guitars.
Elvis and Ann-Margret were lifelong friends, and when she didn’t get any flowers after a performance in 1977, she realized The King had passed away. Ann-Margret, Elvis’s lone female co-star, went to his burial.

When we look back on Ann-Margret’s career, we can see that the 81-year-old actress and musician created some unforgettable cinematic moments and some timeless songs that are being performed today.
The 1941 Swedish-born Hollywood icon became a household name in the 1960s. Few people would have predicted that Ann-Margret, who is from a little hamlet in northern Sweden, would grow up to become one of the most recognizable people in the world.
In 1946, she and her family left their native Sweden, which consisted of “lumberjacks and farmers high up near the Arctic Circle,” and immigrated to the United States.
There were 160 people living there when my mother and I left, she recalled.
Ann Margret made her debut as a vocalist, earning the nickname “the female Elvis Presley” for her sensuous and powerful voice. Hollywood soon realized that she was the complete package, and the time was right for her intense stage presence.
Beginning in 1961, she has worked in the entertainment industry for more than six decades.

Perhaps her most significant performance was in the 1963 musical romantic comedy Bye Bye Birdie, when she played the all-American girl Kim from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Ann-Margret was on the cover of Life Magazine twice as a result of the movie’s popularity.
Even though Ann-Margret is proud of her accomplishments, she considers her long-term relationship with Roger Smith, an actor and manager, to be the apex of her life. The pair married in 1967 and remained together until Roger’s tragic death in 2017.
I am most proud of my marriage when I reflect on my life, she remarked.
Although they had a hard beginning to their relationship, Ann-Margret couldn’t have asked for a better marriage. The Bye Bye Birdie star broke down in tears at their Las Vegas civil wedding ceremony because she was depressed.
She had not anticipated the wedding at all.
Thankfully, it didn’t matter in the end. The relationship between Roger Smith and Ann-Margret was unique; they were a devoted couple who were constantly at each other’s sides.
“Now in Roger, I’ve found all the men I need to be rolled into one—a father, friend, lover, manager, and businessman,” the actress said.
“It fits me well. Without a powerful guy, I couldn’t exist.
Ann-Margret continues to live in the Los Angeles home they purchased in 1968.
Ann-Margret and Roger had challenges, just like other couples do. Ann-Margret tried for 13 years, but she was unable to conceive. She used every tool she had, even a fertility pump, but it didn’t work.

Eventually, Ann-Margret gave up and focused on being the best stepmother she could be for the three children Roger had from a prior relationship.
Ann-Margret was 76 years old when her longtime boyfriend passed away. Roger’s demise in 2017 didn’t surprise her because her husband had to stop performing in the 1980s due to myasthenia gravis, so she wasn’t shocked by it. He also had Parkinson’s disease, which made his vein and nerve problems worse.
Ann-Margret also had to take time off from work to care for him due to his health. She had stayed entirely committed to her spouse during his long illness.
“Because I was caring for him, I kept declining everything. If one of you has a broken wing in a marriage, the other takes over, she remarked.
Ann-Margret obviously regretted the loss of her spouse, yet she was able to continue living her life.
In 2019, a friend remarked to Closer Weekly, “She certainly mourned for Roger, but, more than anything, she fondly recalled the life they made together.” She believed that a great love story didn’t end in death. Their spirit lives on in you.

As of 2023, the brilliant woman keeps herself busy. She rides motorcycles and has a purple Harley-Davidson.
The actress, 81, who is in excellent health, takes pleasure in the might of the machine beneath her and the wind on her hair. It’s obvious that she isn’t quite ready to say “Bye Bye” to you yet.
“My bike is the only lavender bike there if I ride anywhere, like a biker location. There’s my lavender with the flowers among all the Harleys and Ducatis. Interesting. They enjoy it, she says, and they laugh at it.
She is still active in Hollywood and made an appearance in the 2022 television film A Holiday Spectacular. Although she hasn’t revealed his identity, she has also found love again. The actress claims that the new man in her life is not a stranger and that falling in love once more is a “nice feeling.”
“I’m really appreciative of everything. And I’m grateful beyond measure that I still have it today. Yes,” the native of Sweden said.
This lady had a great career! We will always appreciate her for it, as well as for her dedication to her spouse throughout his lengthy illness.
