The Tesla owner reveals the price of home charging, shocking many with its true cost…

A Tesla owner has broken down the cost of charging his car at home, as this is one of the key worries that drivers would face when switching to electric vehicles.

As governments worldwide attempt to wean motorists away from their gas-guzzling vehicles, electric vehicles will surely become the norm.

New petrol and diesel car sales in the UK won’t continue past this decade, and new hybrid models won’t be available until 2035.

In ten years, if you purchase a new automobile in Britain, it will not be a petrol, diesel, or hybrid vehicle.

However, many automobile sales are not from individuals purchasing new vehicles, so there will be plenty of used cars on the market for a long time, but they will ultimately be phased out.

People worry about electric car charging because they fear running out of batteries and their power bills.

Only roughly 4% of cars on UK roads are currently electric, and depending on where people charge their vehicles and what car they own, the cost of each charge can range between £20 and £40.

Charging at home during the right time of day with the right energy provider appears to get the best prices, whereas other motorists have spent a lot of money on charging hardware to bring those costs down, resulting in a hefty initial cost of around £5,000 to £10,000 but paying peanuts to recharge.

Over in the United States, one Tesla owner, called Alex, detailed how much it cost him to charge his car at home each month from December 2022 to August 2023.

Beginning in December, he spent $75.50 (£62.31) charging his car for the entire month, not for each charge. He also mentioned that it was a very busy period with much driving.

The rates then varied from month to month based on how much driving he did and variations in energy prices, but for nine months, he paid $596.12 (£488.69) to charge his car at home.

Alex claimed his family’s only vehicle and that his wife drove it to work for an hour each day.

People who watched him add up the prices said he was actually saving a lot of money compared to how much he would pay for gas in a car with the same driving patterns.

Alex shared in the comments that the car traveled ‘approximately 800-1,000 miles every month,’ and many people were pleasantly surprised at how much it truly costs to run an EV.
