Every homemaker knows that keeping a washing machine’s plastic pristine white is very difficult, as white plastic tends to yellow over time.
However, not everyone knows that it’s easy to restore the plastic’s original appearance—if you know how and with what to clean your washing machine.
Today, I’ll share my experience on how I make yellowed plastic white again in just a few minutes.
I don’t use any chemical cleaners or bleach. In fact, it turned out to be simpler than I thought.
I used to scrub with sponges and products like Comet and Cillit Bang, but the results were not very effective.
Then my grandmother advised me—she said not to scrub too hard, as you’ll only scratch the surface.
She gave me a jar of hydrogen peroxide—that’s what brings back the whiteness to the plastic.
Just try not to let the plastic get too dirty and yellow—hydrogen peroxide will help, but it will be harder to clean.
Apply hydrogen peroxide to a cotton pad and gently but firmly wipe the surface of the washing machine until it becomes white again.
If you do everything correctly, in just a few minutes, your washing machine will shine like new again.
Now, after every wash, I wipe the machine with hydrogen peroxide—it not only restores the whiteness of the plastic but also disinfects and removes bacteria, which is also important.
You can also wipe the drum inside where you put your laundry—this quickly removes any unpleasant odors (if there are any).
Speaking of odors, if your washing machine develops a strong smell, wiping alone won’t be enough.
During a wash, pour two bottles of hydrogen peroxide into the fabric softener compartment and run the machine empty (without clothes). The smell will disappear instantly.
