Regular use of bleaching agents can make fabric brittle and prone to tearing. Boiling laundry can also be cumbersome, as it requires a large pot that fits on the stove and can hold all the necessary clothes. Additionally, boiling takes several hours, and many people simply don’t have that much time to dedicate to it.
However, I have a simple and safe method for washing light-colored laundry. This method can be used frequently and does not harm the fabric.
Here’s the recipe I use:
1. Pour 2 liters of warm water and add 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon of ammonia.
If the laundry is very yellowed, you can add one tablespoon of laundry detergent.
2. Submerge the laundry in this solution and leave it overnight.
3. Important: ammonia has a strong smell. It’s better to cover the basin with plastic wrap.
4. In the morning, wring out the items, rinse them once, and put them in the washing machine on the regular cycle.
Another tip: it’s best to wash at a temperature of 40°C. Do not set the spin cycle above 800 RPM. Thanks to this clever method, the laundry doesn’t wrinkle much and is easier to iron.
Additionally, I have another important tip: when washing in the machine, especially if the laundry is white, add 1 tablespoon of table salt directly into the drum with each wash.
This way, your white laundry will never turn gray.
