Tony Bennet, a well-known singer, died on July 21, 2023. He was 96 years old. The jazz singer’s family said in a message on his Twitter account that he was still singing his hit songs before he died.
The late musician had a career that lasted 80 years, during which time he sold millions of records and won many awards. The singer won 20 Grammys, and in 2001, the Recording Academy gave her the award for lifetime achievement.

His most recent Grammy came in 2022 for the album “Love for Sale,” which he worked on with other artists. He also liked working with great singers like Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, and, most recently, Lady Gaga.
Tony was famous for songs like “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Body and Soul,” and “(I Left My Heart) in San Francisco.” Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of The Recording Academy, called the late star an icon and a “once-in-a-generation voice in American music.”

The pop singer from New York has spent the last few years getting closer to his family. Tony had a serious illness that was making it hard for him to remember things. He often forgot what everyday things were.
Tony’s oldest son from his first marriage to Patricia Beech, Danny Bennett, told the press in 2016 that his famous father was “all about moving forward.” He remembered that Tony told him he would sing until he died, as long as his voice didn’t break and as long as people still liked him.

The artist had Alzheimer’s by 2021, but his wife, Susan Benedetto, said he could still name his family members. But sometimes the singer didn’t know where he was or what was going on.

Things like forks and house keys became strange to him when he moved into a three-bedroom apartment on the 15th floor of a high-rise building near Central Park in New York City. The singer once said that the view from his home was “a painter’s dream,” because he used to be an artist.

He spent hours in his house for years, turning one of the bedrooms into an art studio, which he used a lot based on all the paint brushes, sketches, and paint tubes lying around. Benedetto thought that her husband’s enjoyment of singing was a “precious gift,” but she wished he had taken drawing more seriously since he wasn’t very good at it.
The star’s wife said that he was always happy when he woke up.

Even though the famous singer died peacefully, he made sure that his son and wife would always remember him. Tony also held on to music until the end.
On August 3, 2023, Danny and Benedetto went on the “Today” show together for an interview with Danny. During the interview, Danny told Benedetto what Tony had said to him in his last moments. The singer said these sweet things to his son, who was his manager:
Say, “Thank you.”

Danny also said that his father was a people person and that he and his siblings saw this as kids. He admitted that he and his family had never taken that trait for granted because it had been such an amazing trip.

His wife says that Tony sang until the day he died and that the last song he sang was his first big hit, “Because of You.” Benedetto said that her husband “absolutely” knew who she was and that music had never left him. His last words to her were:
“He would wake up every day and tell me that he loved me.”
