If you’ve gone through airport security, you’ve probably been patted down; however, many of these searches aren’t random, as one passenger learned after having their sweaty crotch’ probed.
Tourists sometimes feel worried as they queue at Transport Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints around the United States and elsewhere.
Many people were afraid that they would be picked for a pat-down or that anything unpleasant would be discovered in their luggage, requiring authorities to dig through their bags and wave anything embarrassing about publicly.
The anxieties may easily get to you, and they frequently do, with the multitudes inside the stifling hot security room perspiring—and one of those who felt this worry was a 5’8″, 169 lb. ‘midsized adult lady’ who revealed on Reddit that her ‘crotch was highlighted twice.’
She wanted to know why she had lately been stopped and groped in the same area of her groin twice, mentioning that she was wearing ‘bike shorts and regular underwear’.
One user inquired, “Were you sweating?”
My crotch got flagged twice, thoughts?

“Probably a little. I’m terrified of flying, so I was nervous,” she laughed.
The Redditor claimed that she was not insulted by the pat-down but was simply interested as to why she had been stopped, but her wife had not.
However, another user reported a similar issue two years ago, using the social media site to express his displeasure and explain why his ‘sensitive region’—as he describes it—was being frisked so frequently.
He undertook his own experiment to help establish why, but he didn’t solve the problem on his own.
The irritated gentleman assumed that his crotch was being flagged because he was wearing trousers.
He wore double-knee trousers the first time, canvas pants the second time, blue jeans the third time, and pajama bottoms the last time he was patted down.
However, one commenter elucidated the reasons behind his frequent halts.
“I’ve flown a lot in the past three years.” I’m a bigger guy, so I’ve had that problem,” they stated. “My unscientific testing has shown the following. I receive a pat down if I perspire.
“The equipment detects sweat, particularly in the lower back and private areas.
“Wearing boxer briefs instead of boxers is recommended; they should fit snugly and securely.” Pants material does not make much of a difference. What does it say? When you enter the machine, pull your pants up as high as possible. Sagging pants cast a shadow or something, which ensures a pat down.
“Finally, be patient. They don’t want to search you down there any more than you want to, but it’s unavoidable at times.
So, if you’re a sweaty mess walking through airport security, you may anticipate a pat-down… sorry, guys!
