A 74-year-old man leaps into the water to save his dog from the fangs of an alligator.
ADRENALINE IS WHAT DRIVES HIM TO DESPERATELY DIVE INTO A POND TO SAVE HIS LOVED DOG FROM THE POWERFUL JAWS OF AN ALLIGATOR.
The father dives into the water in an attempt to liberate his pet dog from the clutches of an alligator.

Cameras set up in the area to record wildlife were able to capture the rescue. Employees of the Florida Wildlife Federation discovered the attack after looking through the camera’s memory card, according to Meredith Budd, the organization’s regional policy director. The owner of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Gunner, 74-year-old Richard Wilbanks, went for a stroll when he heard his dog whimpering. An alligator in his Lee County home pond had kidnapped the puppy and carried it beneath.

A gator leaped out of the water and grabbed the man’s dog as he walked along the pond’s edge near his home in the southwest Florida municipality of Estero. Wilbanks dived into the water and forced the alligator’s jaws apart, releasing the scared dog. Richard stated that adrenaline drove him to leap into a pond in a desperate attempt to save his pet dog from an alligator’s razor-sharp jaws. According to Wilbanks, “It was like a missile.” “Even though we were only a few feet away, it struck like a snake.” I dashed in since it had Gunner in its grip.

Wilbanks is seen wrestling with the alligator near the water in the video.

In the video, Gunner can be heard yelping and barking as Richard moans and tries to pry the alligator’s teeth off the dog. After fighting the alligator in a fierce struggle while holding a cigar in his mouth, the guy ultimately frees the dog. Gunner leaves the yard after he is no longer in danger. Wilbanks and the alligator are still scuffling in the water. When Wilbanks and his wife took Gunner to an animal hospital, they noticed a puncture hole. He stated that the X-rays revealed only a small quantity of water in the puppy’s lungs and that the dog spent a few days in the hospital recuperating. According to the footage, Richard Wilbanks, who sprang out of his chair in the backyard to aid, said, “Instinct just took over and adrenaline kicked in.”
The alligator’s mouth had injured Richard’s hands, so he sought medical attention and received tetanus shots. His injuries have since healed.
