We are filled with heavy hearts. We pray for the Springsteen family. Terrible details revealed…

Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen’s wife and a crucial member of the E Street Band, discussed her personal journey with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer she was diagnosed with in 2018.

The documentary debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. In it, the artist admitted that her health has limited her capacity to tour and play.

Scialfa joined the E Street Band in 1984, but she is also a solo musician who has recorded many albums. Scialfa has collaborated with a number of well-known musicians, including Don Cherry and Narda. Michael Walden, David Johansen, and Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes. In addition, she is a songwriter and film and documentary producer.

Scialfa and Springsteen married in 1991 and have three children together: boys Evan and Samuel and daughter Jessica.

Speaking of the difficulties she has had since her diagnosis, she stated, “It felt so good to be back on stage” and reflected on her limited engagements. “Touring has become a challenge for me.” This impacts my immune system; therefore, I must exercise caution in what I do and where I go. Her illness necessitates caution, which frequently limits her to just sporadic appearances.

Despite her present health, Scialfa strives to maintain a cheerful attitude. “Every once in a while, I come to a show or two, and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat,” she told me.

Scialfa did not attend the documentary’s debut, which will be accessible for streaming on Hulu and Disney+ on October 25, but she did say that it allows viewers to witness “a side of our relationship that you usually don’t get to see.”

“Being back onstage with Bruce is a blast,” she told us. “Every night on this tour gives the band a chance to celebrate.”
