We pray for Reba McEntire and her family

In 1991, an airplane crash claimed the lives of Reba McEntire, a country music superstar, along with her tour manager and seven band members. The incident occurred after a performance in San Diego, as the band was on their way to their next engagement in Indiana.

Reba, her then-husband Narvel Blackstock, and her stylist Sandi Spika were not aboard the ill-fated plane and learned of the tragedy late at night. Narvel delivered the dreadful news to Reba, leaving them both in shock.

Reba relied on the assistance of friends such as Vince Gill and Dolly Parton but turned down offers to have their bands continue the tour. Instead, she dedicated her album “For My Broken Heart” to her lost bandmates. The album had enormous success, debuting at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums list.

Reba uses social media to commemorate the crash anniversary every year. In 2016, she returned to San Diego and recounted her story with her followers, offering her sorrow to everyone involved.

Reba’s persistent love and recollection ensure that her bandmates’ memories continue on, and her narrative exemplifies perseverance in the face of sorrow.
