Blake Shelton is leveraging his status as the most attractive man alive.
And we’re not mad about it.
When People magazine dubbed Blake Shelton the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2017, emotions varied from astonishment to amusement, and no one took it more casually (or humorously) than Shelton himself.
Blake embraced the opportunity with his trademark self-deprecating humor, refusing to let the title get to him. “You all must be running out of people,” he remarked during interviews. But make no mistake: Shelton is totally exploiting the title and doing so in the most Blake Shelton way conceivable.

Blake transformed the award into a source of amusement, mocking his fellow coaches on The Voice and flaunting his newly discovered “sex appeal” in his television appearances. He also joked about needing to adjust his walking and talking style now that he is officially the “Sexiest Man Alive.” Gwen Stefani, his girlfriend at the time, was plainly proud—and equally amused.
What causes it to function so well? Shelton doesn’t pretend to be someone he isn’t. He’s still the laid-back Oklahoman who enjoys country music, camo, and a good beer — but with a tongue-in-cheek attitude that makes admirers adore him even more.
Critics may have questioned Blake’s choice, but he demonstrated that sex is more than simply beauty; it’s about charisma, confidence, and the capacity to laugh at yourself. What if Shelton wants to keep using that title? We say let him—because the world could always use a bit more rural charm and comedy.
