Jorge, Giorgi Berejiani’s dog, went missing three years ago from his house in Tbilisi, Georgia. He searched everywhere for his dearest buddy. And he never lost hope when the days became months and the months became years.

But his efforts would eventually pay off. Staff at a local company discovered a stray who matched Jorge’s description and immediately called Giorgi. The city had tagged the dog to indicate he was a stray, but they were confident it was him.

Giorgi dashed to the location to investigate and approached the dog resting beside the tree. The man can be heard calling the dog’s name in the video below. The dog suddenly began to scream joyful tears, and Giorgi knew it was him right then and there.

They were ultimately reunited three years later. Emotions spilled out of them, and you could see they were relieved to be together again.

“I’m so glad,” Giorgi told The Dodo. “I have never seen him so happy.”

Both of their damaged hearts were mended in that instant. Nobody knows how the dog lasted for so long on the streets by himself, but perhaps he was also nourished by the prospect of one day reuniting with his master.
