It was the day when parents brought their children to work, and it made Noah consider what he would like to do when he “got big” and had to work for himself. Noah had a desire to be a cop when he grew up, and he happened to see one at the restaurant that day.

The youngster asked his mother if he could say “hi” to police officer Eddie Benitez, who was also dining at the restaurant. Of course, his mother consented, but when Noah approached Eddie, he got so frightened that he couldn’t say anything. According to Insider, he decided to make a fresh strategy, and thankfully, Noah had some birthday money in his pocket.

Noah then approached the officer with the receipt. Officer Benitez was initially perplexed when he saw the child approaching with his receipt.

However, after reading what Noah had written, everything became crystal clear. “I want to be you when I grow up,” the nine-year-old youngster wrote on the receipt. Noah, thank you for your service. Officer Benitez, who was so affected by the incident that he told the local news station about it, leaped out of his seat.

I’ve got it right here, cuz I’m going to preserve it for as long as I can. “Sometimes police officers take a lot of flak, and you see him with this big heart coming forward and giving you that piece of paper; what did it mean to you?” the reporter questioned after hearing what the note stated.

“It meant everything,” said Officer Benitez. “It meant I had to get up every morning, put on his uniform, and go out there and do what I do.” You know what I mean? It means I must continue to strive to provide a positive example for all of these young men.”

It was later shared on the Facebook page of the Lakeland Police Department. The tale was shared with the whole department in order to motivate the men and women in blue who work every day to keep our streets safe.

The officer and Noah were reunited a few days later. The local news station gathered them at Noah’s house to convey their touching tale. With so many horrific tragedies to report on every day, the local station wanted to present their viewers with an uplifting story about their local police and a little child with a decent heart.

Every cop on the street is aware that this may be the day they do not return home to their families. Most police stations have this prayer posted in the locker room so officers can read it before starting their shift:

When I begin my tour of duty, God, wherever crime may be, let me be near to you while I tread the shadowy streets alone. Please be patient with both the young and the old. Allow me to listen intently until their narrative is revealed. Allow me to never make rash or cruel decisions, but instead keep my patience and let each guy have his word. Lord, if some dark and dreary night comes, I must give my life. Lord, with your everlasting love, protect my children and my wife.

Knowing the dangers that police officers put themselves in to protect and serve others, as well as the criticism they frequently get, it’s heartwarming to see them supported, recognized, and celebrated in such a wonderful way. When he grows up, this young man will make an excellent police officer.
