Wife speaks after husband sucked into MRI machine dies, says he was ‘snatched’

The widow of the guy who died after being pulled into an MRI scanner has spoken up.

Keith McAllister was killed in a strange accident on Wednesday (16 July) at the Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, New York.

Adrienne Jones-McAllister, the 61-year-old’s wife, stood at his side as she witnessed the machine snatch him’ at the private facility.

Police received a 911 call shortly after 4:30 p.m. local time, reporting that a man had a medical episode after becoming trapped in one of the devices.

An update two days later stated that he had succumbed to his injuries and was certified dead by a hospital physician.’

Adrienne was getting an MRI on her knee when she requested the technician to call her husband in to help her up.

Keith was wearing a ‘big metallic chain around his neck,’ which caused him to be ‘pulled into the machine’ by its intense magnetic force.

Despite the 20-pound chain he was wearing, his wife reported that they allowed him to enter the room.

Adrienne told News 12 Long Island that “in that instant, the machine switched him around, pulled him in, and he hit the MRI.”

She and the technician attempted to remove Keith from the machine but were unable.

“I asked, ‘Could you turn off the machine?'” Call 911. Do something. “Turn this damn thing off!” she remembered.

While MRI equipment may save lives and provide essential diagnostics, its powerful magnets can be harmful.

According to the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, the force is strong enough to throw a wheelchair across the room.’

In the United Kingdom, the NHS encourages patients to remove any metal items on their bodies, such as watches, piercings, and hearing aids.

Adrienne stated that it was not the couple’s first visit to the facility and that the staff had seen the man’s chain, which he used for weight training.

It was alleged, “They had a conversation about it before, ‘Oh, that’s a big chain.'”

Adrienne, who loved her husband so much,’ is still trying to ‘get her brain around the issue’ after he died.

“He waved goodbye to me, and his whole body went limp,” she said.

The Nassau County Police Department has opened an inquiry into the event.
