If you share my inclination, you probably tend to review photos you’ve taken in the hours, days, and weeks following the moment of capture. Personally, I enjoy revisiting such moments frequently because these photos serve as a visual portal into the past that would otherwise be lost.
However, for a particular group of women, examining a pair of photos taken just seconds apart led to a horrified realization of a detail that was more than a little unsettling. Photo mishaps, including strange blurring, the classic red-eye effect, or other disruptions, are not uncommon, potentially diminishing what would otherwise be a lovely memento of a historical moment. I’ve even come across pictures so distorted that the individuals in them no longer resemble people.

Yet, I can’t claim to have seen anything quite like the experience reported here. According to accounts, a group of women on a bachelorette party in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, were so disturbed by what they observed in two consecutive photos that they decided to cancel their anticipated weekend of fun and return home.
The festivities were planned at a remote estate, and the group initiated their celebration with the typical camaraderie of friends, capturing a series of photos before the situation took an unexpected turn. The initial image depicts the group happily posing by logs with a picturesque lake in the background.
However, in the group’s purported second photo, taken mere seconds after the first, a little boy seems to be poking his head above the logs. The eerie nature of this revelation takes a stranger turn due to the estate’s grim backstory, making it impossible to ignore in light of the photo.

Allegedly, there was a 1994 film titled “The Blue Boy,” recounting the story of a young boy who drowned in Lock Eck. Screenwriter Paul Murton based the narrative on a story from a local hotelier, describing a child who, while sleepwalking during a holiday, strayed outside, fell into the loch, and drowned. The unsettling incidents included items being out of place and wet footprints found upstairs in the corridor.
Unsettled by these revelations, the group of women promptly abandoned their weekend plans and packed up their belongings. The authenticity of the photo featuring the little boy has been questioned online, but as of now, there is no official verdict from the women involved.
