You will be heartbroken when you discover the reason this boy risked his life and got this scarf…

People are hailing a child as a hero for risking his own life to protect his sister from a vicious dog attack.

Bridger Walker, six at the time, leaped in front of a German Shepherd that sprang at them when they were at a friend’s house in Wyoming.

The boy underwent a two-hour surgery requiring 90 stitches to repair the damage to his face.

Bridger explained what he did that dreadful day, saying, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”

Bridger’s father, Robert Walker, told People in 2021 that his son really believed in such powerful statements.

He explained, “My wife and I asked him, ‘Do you want it to go away?'” The father of five recalls that he responded, “I don’t want it to go all the way away.”

Bridger wants to be proud of his scar, but he doesn’t think it shows his bravery. He simply sees it as ‘I was a brother, and that’s what brothers do.’ It serves as a reminder that his sister was unharmed and is now well.

“It almost bothers him sometimes when he’s called a hero, because he thinks, ‘Maybe I could have done more to shield her.’.”

Online, people have praised the child as a hero, and his story has recently gone viral on Reddit.

“Well done, little man, braver than a lot of people at such a young age…” said someone.

“This little hero better get everything from his Christmas list this year,” was the second thought.

Bridger’s narrative has received acclaim from celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Chris Evans, and Tom Holland.

The latter even promised to allow the youngster onto the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he kept his word.

Robert turned to Instagram and wrote, “Remember when @tomholland2013 told Bridger he could come to the Spider-Man shoot? He delivered!

“When we initially got on set, I was concerned that once the ‘curtain was pulled back,’ the enchantment of the movies would be lost for the youngsters.

The contrary was true! Tom, Zendaya, Harry, @lifeisaloha, @tonyrevolori, and the entire cast/crew treated our kids like stars. They don’t merely play the role of nice neighborhood heroes; this is who they genuinely are.
