Zookeeper ‘Jungle Jack’ Hanna has lost sight of his family…

Jack Hanna devoted his life to animal welfare, building the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and appearing on several talk shows to educate the public about animals.

With several award-winning animal presentations to help people comprehend the value of the natural environment, Hanna has been a source of tremendous pleasure and enlightenment.

The adored zookeeper has spent his life informing others about the animals he cares about, but in his old age, he has difficulties recalling his significant life. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2019, an illness that has robbed him of his memory in old age.

Hanna, a joyful Tennessee native with an endless supply of humorous jokes and a distinctive leather outback hat, has been developing Alzheimer’s signs.

After four years of battling the sickness, Hanna, 76, has little recall of his prior life, with his wife commenting, “The Hanna people knew isn’t here anymore.”

Hanna’s Alzheimer’s condition has advanced to the point where he can no longer recognize his own family.

He now devotes most of his time to his beloved wife, Suzi Egli, and their adorable puppy, Brassy. He considers his daughter, Kathaleen, who has traveled from England to assist her father,

The beloved zookeeper’s situation has not been ignored. The Columbus Zoo’s current CEO, Tom Schmid, praised Hanna’s family for telling him about his condition.

Hanna’s daughter highlighted her father’s struggle, stating, “He lived in fear that the public would find out.”

Schmid also complimented Hanna for his years of dedication to the zoo, saying it would not be what it is today without his persistent efforts.

The Columbus Zoo has set up a green mailbox where visitors may leave notes for Hanna and his family to indicate how much he meant to so many American families.

Hanna’s family has also publicly expressed their appreciation to everyone who has offered them messages of support and well-wishes. They confessed that the assistance had helped them get through this difficult time. They appreciate the messages, but they also thank the public for respecting their privacy, adding in a public message:

“While Dad/Jack is still mobile, his mind is failing him, the light in his eyes has dimmed, and we miss who he was every day. We appreciate your nice comments, words of support, and the privacy you’ve given our family.”

Hanna, like other well-known actors with neurological problems, such as Michael J. Fox, is extremely reliant on his family.

His wife spoke out about his care, stating tenderly, “It’s difficult. Some days are quite challenging. But Dad took care of me all those years, and now it’s my turn to take care of him.”
