10-year-old girl survives being attacked by alligator using clever trick…

Once ensnared in the jaws of an alligator, escape seems improbable. Yet, Juliana Ossa defied the odds by employing a clever tactic.

The ten-year-old found herself swimming in shallow waters at Moss Park in Orlando on April 20, 2017, when an alligator sunk its teeth into her leg, refusing to release its grip.

Alligators typically seize their prey and drag them underwater, making it imperative to find a way to break free.

Fortunately, Juliana remembered a technique she had learned during a visit to Gatorland, a local theme park.

Recalling her experience, she shared with NBC’s TODAY, “I attempted to strike its forehead to loosen its grip. When that failed, I recalled a strategy taught at Gatorland.”

Describing the tactic, she explained, “I inserted my fingers into its nostrils, obstructing its breathing. As a result, it opened its mouth, releasing my leg.”

Although unconventional, it proved effective. After all, alligators are impervious to physical blows, but depriving them of oxygen forces them to relinquish their hold.

Despite her initial fear, Juliana remained composed, knowing what actions to take.

Following the incident, park rangers euthanized the alligator, and the beach underwent evaluation before reopening.

Juliana’s uncle, Steven Rodriguez, swiftly attended to her injuries and transported her to safety. Recounting the scene, he remarked, “Seeing the extent of her injury, I carried her to the picnic table.”

Paramedic Kevin Brito praised Juliana as a resilient young girl, commending her courage.

Two days later, Juliana returned home, her leg wrapped in bandages. Gatorland extended their well wishes for her speedy recovery, expressing their relief at her safe return home on social media.
