Victoria Canal, a singer-songwriter, said she never expected to have to clarify if she is seeing Tom Cruise.
Tabloids went crazy when they spotted Tom Cruise watching the 25-year-old perform alongside Coldplay at the Glastonbury Festival earlier this year.
Later on, alleged insiders came out to fuel speculation of a possible relationship between the two.
According to the Sun, Cruise brought Canal to the set of Mission: Impossible 8, and another stated they had become ‘inseparable’.
“Tom invited Victoria to watch him film for the whole day, and that is just not something he does for his random friends,” a crew member remarked.
Other headlines that circulated included ‘Are Victoria Canal and Tom Cruise dating?’ and ‘Tom Cruise’s mystery lady’.
However, on August 5, Canal went to Instagram to respond to the ‘bonkers’ claims.

Surprisingly, the couple doesn’t date and is only friends—angry, right?
“Guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think I am dating Tom Cruise,” Canal captioned images of various stories about her and Cruise’s relationship. I’m not alive anymore.
“Let’s just halt this in its tracks. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’m not dating the man, despite the fact that he’s a wonderful person and artist. In my life, I never anticipated having to explain it out loud. y’all.”
She went on to criticize a media outlet for their coverage of the conjecture, urging them to ‘use a better photo’ if they were going to write about her.

The singer-songwriter resolved: “In all seriousness, gentlemen, Tom has been nothing but a polite and supportive person and mentor, much like Chris Martin, my father, my music professors, and other smart individuals who have learned a lot from life. Once again, I have formed friendships with a diverse range of individuals who are vastly different from myself. You can learn a lot if you are open to life’s teachers.

Tickets for Canal’s next tour, which is in support of her current single release “California Sober,” are currently on sale and will run from August 17 to November 15.
