When ballet meets acrobatics, the result is something the judges never expected.

The stage of America’s Got Talent 2025 became the setting for an extraordinary performance when the Xi’an Acrobatic Troupe introduced the judges to a completely different interpretation of ballet. Representing Xi’an, China, the performers combined the elegance of classical dance with the remarkable balance and coordination associated with Chinese acrobatics. From the opening moments, it was clear that this was not going to be an ordinary dance audition.

The female performer appeared on stage with her male partner, and the routine quickly transformed into an impressive display of trust and precision. Instead of remaining on the floor like a traditional ballerina, she performed ballet movements while supported by her partner. Her controlled pointe work and graceful movements created a striking contrast with the incredible physical strength required to keep the performance steady.

The most surprising moment came when the ballerina reached an elevated position on her partner, performing delicate ballet movements from an extraordinarily challenging balance point. Every movement appeared carefully timed, requiring both performers to remain completely synchronized. The unusual combination made the familiar language of ballet feel fresh, unexpected, and almost dreamlike.

The judges watched with growing amazement as the routine continued. Even Simon Cowell, who admitted that classical ballet does not usually excite him, recognized that the troupe had found a way to make the art form feel completely different. Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara were visibly impressed, while Mel B also praised the beauty of the performance. By the end, all four judges voted yes, sending the act through to the next stage.

What made the audition memorable was not simply the difficulty of the choreography, but the way the performers blended contrasting disciplines into one cohesive presentation. The Xi’an Acrobatic Troupe demonstrated how ballet can be transformed through creativity, teamwork, and extraordinary control, leaving both the audience and judges captivated by a performance unlike anything they had expected to see.
