The show’s creator, Nigel Lythgoe, also serves as a judge, and the 2022 season faced a minor scandal when judge Matthew Morrison was dismissed for “inappropriate” social media messages directed at a participant. Actress Leah Remini from “The King of Queens” replaced him.
